1: Describe the plot of your current WIPs in a single sentence each.
Animal After Animal:
After moving into a family friend's summer house, Nell, a recluse, must navigate her precarious relationship with her brother whilst they both grieve for their mother in a neighborhood unfamiliar and unfriendly to them.

7: What was the first novel you ever tried to write? If you’ve never tried to write a novel, then what was the first story you ever wrote?
The first "novel" I wrote never fully reached novel length (it was likely more in the novella range), but it was sort of a fantasy/dystopian/post-apocalyptic story meshed into one. I wrote it over a summer after evolving a daydream of mine that I began tacking descriptions onto as I visualized it.
11: Share the last paragraph you wrote.
I believe the last paragraph I wrote is only a sentence from a personal project, but here's a paragraph from Animal After Animal:
Oliver, Mom, and I had travelled to Halgrove for the weekend, our bags drooping off our arms. We’d been there only two days when Mom began to resent the heat. The humidity filled my mouth, and I occasionally sucked on an ice cube to quell what felt like a slow melting. We’d all resorted to wearing wet cloths around our necks. The boys swam for most of the day while I lounged by a shaded patch of the dock, my feet anchored in a bucket of seawater. I couldn’t handle dipping them directly in. I feared the fish far too much to take the risk. I watched them flicker by in silver winks, like loose grains of rice.
17: How far along are you in your current WIP? How long have you been working on it?
In my novel Animal After Animal (I still do call it Animal Hour), I've written about 50k words, and stopped drafting it in September of last year. University work tends to become my main priority during the year, so I went in with the expectation that I would slow the drafting, and that's what happened. It was quite natural, as I broke at part two in the novel, and I believe only wrote 1 chapter into part 2. I realized I needed to do some more developmental edits to the book, so I didn't continue with the draft, and hope to get those edits done soon. I've been working on the novel for 2 years now!
I'm also working on a dystopian spinoff of @coffeeandcalligraphy's Fostered series, and that's currently sitting at 7000 words, and we've been working on it very sparsely since December (most of the progress was made in April/May). I'm enjoying reacquainting myself with YA, including a change in voice and prose!
