Can't wait to see UNDERCOLOUR on the big screen :)
The Graduate 2012 competition has 7 films from NCCA and other 5 from AUCB... it sounds as a great event for Bouremouth as center of the animation in the UK!
See you there!!
UNDERCOLOUR is the Master Project I made between April and the end of August 2012 at Bournemouth University.
Right now it has been selected at Kinofest (Romania, 2012) Libelula International Animation Festival (Spain, 2012) and at Animated Exeter (UK, 2013).
It was quite a painful process to tell this story, but I remember it as one of the most exciting and creative experience of my career. Now I will do it differently, but most of all... SHORTER!!
Music and sound by Edoardo Verde.. Thanks pal, you made a masterpiece!!
'Perceptive' will be shown at Animated Exeter in February!!! It is up for the Screen Out Loud: Independent talent Award!
The Playpark, Exeter
Stuart Dawson (RA Projects) and I have just finished the production of a documentary and advert for The Playpark, Exeter's all inclusive play park for disabled and able-bodied people. It is one of the first of it's kind in the UK and is not only an impressive park in terms of equipment, but also in it's grassroots vision. Established in 2008, The Playpark was made possible by the persistent endeavors of the local community, lead by project leader Miriam Guard. Find out more in our documentary, Play For All, and the subsequent advert that we made with the help of students from Countess Wear Community School and Southbrook School.
If you are around Exeter and are looking for a great place to go with the kids, make sure you check it out at King George V Playing Field. It really is a wonder to behold. More information can also be found at The Playpark website.
Saturday Morning Animation Madness...again.
Hey all. The third Saturday Morning Animation club at Exeter Phoenix finished last weekend and we have another completely mad film to show you. Well, not so mad, just a little strange. Check it out below: I think it's a great little piece, with some really interesting elements. It's fascinating what young people can pick up on even though they may not be that politically aware of what's going on in the world. There are some interesting similarities in this animation to recent news events. Is it by accident? Who knows. Anyway, the next 6 week session will start on September 11th. If you are interested in getting involved, contact the Exeter Phoenix box office at 01392 667 080.
Stop Motion Magic & The Media Bus
This year marked my fourth year co-facilitating the Stop-Motion Magic workshops at Animated Exeter. As usual, I had some great, creative fun with the participants. It's always exciting to see what they come up with, especially when you place a bunch of scrap materials in front of them! Scrap corner (the corner of the room where you can find all the materials) was heaving this year with fluffy bits of wool, old fashioned wallpaper and greetings cards. This year I was joined by Anna Aroussi, who I will be working with this year at Appledore Arts Festival, doing something very similar. Unfortunately I'm not in the position to upload the work that we did just yet (it's being sold as a DVD by Animated Exeter) but I will be able to later on in the year. But just to whet your appetite, here are some screen captures from my favorite pieces. After the festival workshops, I was hired to do some media training with a new company called The Media Bus, a double decker bus that is fully kitted out with editing suites and HD Cameras. The brief was, as part of their pilot tour of Cornwall, to produce documentaries with young people about how disconnected tbey feel due to the issues like; lack of public transport etc. Due to consent issues, I'm unable to show any footage from the week's work, but the project seems very promising. I will be back with them next week in Falmouth, so there might be some stuff to show then. Meanwhile, here's an image of the bus I took on my phone :)
