Mushishi S02E10
I wasn’t a big fan of The Red Turtle in general, and its treatment of plants in general is a stain on Ghibli’s reputation. But bamboo in particular is the star of the show botanically. It provides the emotional landscape of the film as well as the material underpinnings of most of its plot points.
King of the Hill, “I Never Promised You an Organic Garden” 2003
Flower memorials, Wolf Children (2012)
These shots from episode 13 of season 2 must be the most direct and detailed plant portraits in Mushishi so far. And this is just the cream of the crop from this episode!
Marnie takes Anna for a walk in the forest (extras from the mushroom harvesting scene I posted about a few weeks ago).
My drafts folder is looking pretty thin right now so if you have any plant movie recs or artists or wanna do a guest post hit me up with a message or something.
