A selection of my favorite hand-painted backgrounds in sequential order from “Escaflowne: the Movie” aka エスカフローネ, "Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea” released in 2000.

A lot gets mentioned about the characters in the world of Gaea, so I want to give some love and attention to the beautiful, mystical, natural world of Gaea itself. The traditional painted backgrounds in this movie use gorgeous color theory and rendering techniques to show a truly otherwordly place where the dark fantasy adventures comes to life!

A new landscape backgorund picture is out

The production team from the upcoming anime uploaded a new background picture two days ago, adding to the previous three already published.

From top to bottom: "Green Gables", "The Birch Path", "A sunset view of Avonlea", and last but not least, "The White Way of Delight".

The WWoD looks delightful ^.^
