I almost died in front of Thanatos. Thanatos said, "You're relaxed."
I confess that I was fascinated by your battle.

A River Choked With Sand (Chapter 2)
Thanzag • T • Post-Hades 2 Reunion
There is a moment when Thanatos wakes, suspended and hopeful, in which he can almost convince himself it was all a nightmare. Then he chokes on another cloud of dust, and that hope dissipates as quickly as it came.
A figure beside the bed, one he can’t quite make out in the darkness, turns towards him. “Zag?” he coughs.
“Zagreus is with Megaera in the throne room, my son. He asked me to stay here and watch over you so that you would not wake up alone.”
“Mother,” Thanatos whispers.
And then Nyx is leaning over the bed and pulling him into a hug that he melts into in a way he hasn’t since he was a child. “My son,” she says again. “I am so glad to see you awake.”
Awake. The word seems to sends fractures along his ribs, and he pulls back.
“Mother, the princess said that Hypnos has fallen into a deep sleep. That he isn’t waking up.”
“The princess spoke true.” Nyx squeezes Thanatos’s shoulders. “But the princess is a very powerful witch, and she counts among her friends several experts in the craft. I have every faith that she will awaken your brother before long.” She must be able to read the skepticism in Thanatos’s face, because she adds, “did Zagreus or Melinoë tell you exactly how she managed to warn him of Chronos’s plans?”
Thanatos shakes his head.
“Melinoë was able to use my Mirror to contact Zagreus in his dreams. If she can find a way into the subconscious of someone in the past and communicate with them, I am certain she can do the same for Hypnos.”
Nyx is not prone to exaggeration. If she is so confident, she must have a reason. Thanatos does not know enough about witchcraft to trust it, but he does trust his mother.
“Thank you, Mother. Forgive me, but I have to ask: do you truly believe Chronos is telling the truth? That he wants to make amends, and that part of that involves keeping me from my responsibilities?”
“He swore on the River Styx that his intentions are true. Megaera would have been able to tell if he was lying, and if he breaks his oath, the punishment he will endure will make being cut up and tossed into Tartarus look like a mercy.”
Thanatos nods, letting out a long breath. He should feel relieved, and part of him does. But a large part of him is still suffused with that cold, thick dread. If Chronos had been lying, at least Thanatos would have been able to resume his duties, to go to the mortals that need him and put an end to the incessant tugging at his brain. As it is… as it is, he is still not Death Incarnate. Merely another prisoner of Time.
He catches himself rubbing at his wrists again and forces his hands to still. This is not the same. His mother is beside him, and almost every other person he loves is only a room away. He is not chained, not alone.
