I'll be honest, people. We keep talking about Frieren, DunMeshi and Witch Hat Atelier as this triad of fantasy manga that thematically belong together. But I kinda feel we are leaving out a forth story, that also somewhat fits quite deeply into this specific niche of "fantasy stories that have stuff to say about social topics and how we reflect on them in fantasy specifically". And that story is Ancient Magus' Bride. Which is in the end a story heavily linked to colonialism, othering, and the inherent rebellion of being kind to others. I kinda feel it also should be in this list. (For those who do not know it, just a fair warning: very heavy topics. Main character starts the story out as severely suicidal. Tackles a lot of adultism and child abuse.)
