When Quantity Overtakes Quality
The anime world has changed a lot over the years. Today, far more anime are being produced than fifteen years ago. I think it is great that anime has gained so much popularity. However, I also find it unfortunate that quality is often no longer the main focus, while quantity takes priority.
What I mean by this is mainly the huge number of isekai anime that are being produced, most of which follow almost the same storyline. It often feels like watching the same story over and over again with only minor changes.
What also bothers me is that anime series that are not even finished sometimes receive a spin off. A good example of this is Gate. Gate was something special because of its unique characters. That was what defined the entire series. Now, however, a Gate 2 is supposed to be released, and I am already quite sure that it will not live up to the quality of the original.
