Do you know a good way to start on the path of learning the Japanese language, i have partly learned most of the alphabet, but i want to start to learn the actual language. I just don't know where to start...
It's good you're learning the alphabet first. On my kana guide page I have the stroke orders for each row of hiragana and katakana. At the end of each pdf there's vocab you should be able to read and write now that you've learned the kana. For example あ through お. Start learning more vocab with letters you can read then learn some simple grammar and then more complex. Tae Kim has the best Japanese grammar guide on the web. It's outlined greatly with simple grammar tidbits first gradually to more complex. Recently I've been following a lot of jvlogs on youtube (foreigners living in Japan) to learn about Japan and the language itself. Listening to native speakers is a great way to pick it up and learn how to speak.Erin is another video way you can learn. You follow the life of Erin, an English foreign exchange student in Japan and learn phrases and vocab along the way. The site is in Japanese but that's an easy hurdle to jump once you understand what each page/button does/says.Getting a popup dictionary is good too. If you're reading Japanese pages and want to read kanji or other words, it's a big help. I use rilaikun for Chrome. Remember not to over use it because you'll begin to rely on it a lot. You want to be able to stand on your own when it comes to reading words.Check out our resources page if you want to see more sites you can utilize for your studies.Let us know if you have further questions!-admin k
