so julie and the phantoms genuinely is my show of the year and I'll tell you why.
there are all these shows out there who are competing for who has the grimmest tone, how dark can we make it, how far down can we go, how can we make the audience feel the most depressed/terrified/scandalized? and sometimes that's amazing but like. a show doesnt have to be adult to be good, it just has to have heart.
if you take an idea and love it and help it grow your audience is going to be able to feel that as they watch. I watched jatp twice in the span of a week and cried both times. I made my mother watch it and she cried too.
sometimes you just need great characters, a great idea and great people behind something to make it amazing- when you have that you dont have to rely on gimmicks to gain your audience's love.
