Ann Pragg streams new song

Ann Pragg's second track off of his upcoming debut record, Bitter Fruit, is now streaming at MTV Hive. 

Titled Januarium, the song is a quiet, endearing, and soulful indie semi-ballad that's definitely not short on ear candy properties. Matt Radick, Holopaw's lead guitarist and the man behind the Ann Pragg moniker, did a particularly great job with this one both lyrically and vocally.

His soothing voice evokes enough conviction to justify and caress the song without going too far overboard. 

This is the second song I've heard from his record and I'm even more pumped for it to drop!

Thanks for teasing all of us more with this sweet and relaxing tune.

Ann Pragg Video Premiere + Strangely cool VICE interview

Remember when I wrote about this new artist I discovered called Ann Pragg?

Well, I said that his debut record Bitter Fruit is coming out on May 7th and that the first single is called "Demolition Dust".

That song now has a music video to come along with it, which you can watch after the jump!

I'd also like to share this pretty cool interview that VICE did with Ann Pragg.

Reading about artists and learning about them and who they really are, is important for me to truly understand why their music is the way it is. And with Ann Pragg, this rather refreshingly strange interview really put his music and persona in a perspective for me. It's an interview unlike the common ones we see from other artists out there. The result is that I not only have grown even more excited about his record, but I kind of want to get to know him.

I feel like it would be a lot of fun to pick this guy's brain and just talk about art, hear his opinion on world issues, and just other philosophical ramblings.

Sadly, I live across the globe from him and the only chance I might have for that would be social networking. However, this interview reveals that Ann Pragg has a particular aversion toward social networking and only reluctantly signed up on Facebook to get word out about his album.

VICE: Ann Pragg is a strange but memorable name. Where’d it come from? ANN PRAGG: Ann Pragg is an abbreviation of a term, but I feel like Ann Pragg is a lot of different things. I like to think of it as this humanoid creature that skulks around on the outskirts of town and forages for trash to kind of sustain itself. It might have supernatural powers, I don’t know. It probably doesn’t have opposable thumbs…

Discovered: ANN PRAGG

I've been on the lookout for new music and artists these past couple of weeks. I've been listening to some of the bands that have already been around for quite a long time, and have graced my Twitter and Tumblr dashboards no less, but I never really got around to checking out. 

So, it was a welcome development to receive a press release on an artist I haven't heard of who was about to release his debut record.

Ann Pragg is the alter ego of Gainesville, Florida's Matt Radick (Holopaw, Blood River). He is about to release his debut full-length titled Bitter Fruit on May 7th via Wonderland Archives.

His first single is the melancholic yet dreamy "Demolition Dust". Let me tell you, this song is on repeat right now and will be for the next couple of days. If you're a fan of the indie, intimate, gypsy blues type of music, then you'll love Ann Pragg's material--well, this single at least. Nevertheless, I am psyched for this record to drop!

The single also reminds me of Jose Gonzales who sang "Heartbeats". Incidentally, "Heartbeats" was also used in one of the episodes of One Tree Hill. I believe it was the State Championship scene in Season 4. Therefore, I find that "Demolition Dust" gives off the vibe that it can easily find its way to any TV series.
