after watching the movie on mute, I have to say... i adore how deeply intimate (and how much softer imani looks in) the bath scene when the background music isn't playing. what originally seems like vicious anger from the betrayal imani feels when spotting laila's hickey takes on the quality of quiet indignation: a disappointment that honestly looks more heartbreaking than anything, especially after being vulnerable without "teeth" for the first time.
