||hc: inanimate friends
Due to intense loneliness in her childhood, Anna would talk to inanimate objects and developed a vivid imagination. So these objects had personalities of their own. Like the Joan of Arc painting and the bust in the hallway that she lifts later in the film.
This leads to her believing she can talk to inanimate objects (or possibly really possessing an ability to talk to them). If an object that usually talks to her doesn’t talk back she becomes quite upset.
