I'm a little bit late with the tag game ask BUT

I saw "Bakery Dragon" and "Wars gets turned into a small noodle dragon" and I kinda need to know about those two to continue with my life, so.

These two are actually kinda similar in that Link is the dragon in both XD

Bakery Dragon is based on the children's book by Devin Elle Kurtz! I remember seeing her illustration on tumblr years ago? Maybe before the book was published? I don't know, time and memory are weird. (She's @tamberella on tumblr though! Her art is awesome)

It's barely LoZ/LU, and mostly just an excuse to write Rowan with a cute little dragon helping him in the bakery. Since the baker in Bakery Dragon looks a bit like Rowan!

Here's a small snippet (under the read more, along with more about the noodle dragon one!):

When he turned back to the counters, he caught something in his peripheral vision. Something shiny that hadn’t been visible until the lamps brightened. Huddled beneath the chalkboard sign was a… dragon? Rowan blinked. Rubbed his eyes. Looked again. Yes, that was definitely a dragon. A very small dragon. A very small, very cold dragon, if its shivering was anything to go by. And the fact that the sidewalk in front of his bakery was prone to getting puddles. The sign might block the worst of the rain from landing on the poor thing, but the water was beginning to pool beneath the dragon.

As for "Wars gets turned into a small noodle dragon", that one has more substance! But no actual writing! It's all just an outline, as I discovered when I opened the doc to pick a snippet XD

In this one, Link is on a mission to pursue and defeat Cia. He gets separated from the other soldiers and at some point in the fight, she curses him and he turns into a small noodle dragon (think Dinraal but like. golden retriever size)

He's able to escape and finds Rowan. He's a cottage witch in this one. He can make potions and magic pastries and stuff, and the land surrounding his home is pretty magical and warded against evil. Link is suspicious at first and hides under the porch, though the area feels safe. He's eventually lured out with pastries and the call of a warm fire in the cottage.

The war with Cia and Ganon is at a bit of a standstill in the background, since the hero has gone missing. About a year passes, as Link tries to figure out how to turn back without putting himself and Rowan in danger, since he worries that if he leaves the safety of the wards, Cia will be able to find him.

Eventually, she does anyway, at around the same time the other LU Links arrive. Link sees them use the master sword to turn Twilight back from his wolf form. He tries and fails to steal the master sword. They Links end up visiting Rowan's cottage and Rowan realizes that dragon link seems fixated on the sword, and ends up following the Links after they leave to steal it. When he gets back to the cottage, Cia and her forces are attacking, trying to grab dragon Link.

I guess I'll leave the rest in case I ever write it! But hopefully that's all enough to satisfy your curiosity :D

For requests... maybe a Link and Rowan night time routine that ends with some nighttime cuddles?

I plan to return to these now that I've made it past the busy times of holidays and the busiest season at work! I have a lot to catch up on, but my inbox is always open!

This was a cute prompt! It ends abruptly because I planned to write more, but I wrote this a while ago and decided not to continue it. Maybe a scene like this will come up in a fic some time!

Link let his eyes fall shut as he brushed his teeth. The bright light in the bathroom stung his eyes — they really needed to change the lightbulbs, but when the last one had burnt out, they’d only had this kind left. Maybe he should go shopping tomorrow. After brushing his teeth, Link washed his face and moisturized. His hair was mostly dry, so he ran his fingers through it to fluff it a bit. Finally, he put on the loose shirt and shorts he’d left in the bathroom before he’d taken his shower and went back into the bedroom. Rowan was just walking into the bedroom carrying two mugs of tea. He was already dressed for bed, his hair in his usually loose bun on top of his head to protect his curls while sleeping. Link went to his side of the bed and sat up against the headboard. He sighed as he leaned back and sunk slightly into the mattress. His legs and back ached, for no real reason other than just being tired. He hadn’t even been on his feet all day! Maybe he was just getting old. As if Rowan could read his thoughts, when he sat down on the other side of the bed, he let out a heavy sigh and passed a mug of tea over to Link. “Already in bed at eight. Don’t we live exciting lives.” Link huffed out a laugh as he slid closer to Rowan and leaned against his side. “I’m sure all our friends are making fun of us now.” “They don’t have to wake up before dawn.” “I’d much rather be here anyways.” Link leaned his head against Rowan’s shoulder. It would make it hard to drink his tea, but that was more for the routine of it than anything. Rowan normally finished his, but Link often left his mug half finished, despite his best efforts otherwise. Rowan set his mug aside and pulled a book from the bedside table. He moved carefully to not disturb Link.

The inside was just as lovingly built as the outside, exposed wood and beams supporting a tall ceiling. Tools hung on the wall and in one corner, a large statue of an unfamiliar bird. Rowan was hit instantly with the scent of fresh sawdust, sap, and a bit of wood smoke. Someone popped up from behind the counter — a well built man with brown, fluffy hair covered in wood shavings and a friendly smile. “Time! And you must be the new farmer. I’m Sky, it’s nice to meet you!” He reached out a hand for a shake. Sky’s hands were calloused, likely from years of woodwork, and his grip was firm. “I am in no way a farmer, but it’s nice to meet you as well. I’m Rowan.” Sky’s grin didn’t falter. After letting go of Rowan’s hand, he brushed the front of his clothes as if that was enough to clean off the saw dust covering him. “Well, you moved out to the old farrm west of town, didn’t you?” Rowan nodded. “My great uncle’s, yes.” “You live on a farm, old or not. That’s enough for me. Now what can I do for you?” Time stepped forward then, nearly making Rowan jump when he spoke up. “The old farmhouse needs some work, and an inspection to make sure it’s safe to live in. A beam in the bedroom fell while I was there this morning.” Sky’s eyes widened, and he looked over at Rowan. “You weren’t…” he shook his head. “I guess if you were in there you wouldn’t be here now. Glad you’re okay.” Sky walked out from behind the counter and into the room adjacent to the one they were in. Rowan waited, unsure if he should follow, and took the chance to look around the shop more. It wasn’t just woodworking tools displayed on the walls. There was also a sword — meticulously polished and devastatingly sharp. An unstrung bow and a quiver of arrows. Blueprints and designs tacked up on the walls. “Sky's passion is woodworking, but he’s also a world-class fighter,” Time told him. He was looking at the sword with an unreadable expression. Before Rowan could ask, there was a shout of “Groose!” from somewhere else in the house. Rowan raised an eyebrow, and Time smiled. “Sky’s business partner. Sometimes it’s a wonder how they can work together with how much they get on each other’s nerves.” Rowan chose to ignore the crashing sound from the other room while Time went over to examine the carved wooden bird. It was only a minute later when Sky returned, a leather work bag thrown over his shoulder and a slight scowl on his face. His expression lifted slightly when he looked back over at Rowan.

Oh my goodness! It's more than okay! This is absolutely gorgeous and adorable and I've been thinking about it all morning. They look so happy! I love how you did Rowan's hair, you captured the curls so well!

Does Rowan know how to ride a horse?? Rowan's first time riding a horsie :>

I went a little wild with this prompt and wrote like 1100 words. Which is too much for me to put on tumblr (not because of tumblr limits, it's just a lot of formatting stuff for me) so the full thing will be posted on AO3 at some point. (My page is here) By the time the events of my Rowanverse series rolls around, Rowan does know how to ride a horse! He's not super skilled at it and does it very rarely, but he's capable enough if the horse is calm (long rides wouldn't be very comfortable though, he'd prefer to ride in a wagon if that's the case).

For context on this snippet, Rowan is almost two. Ren, his older sister, is about six. Théo is his dad, and his mom (Chrys) is watching. She shows up in the full fic!

For those who know a lot about Rowan's history, this may be a bit sad (it made me sad while writing it). For those that don't, well, I hope you enjoy the cuteness! It's cute either way!

Oh, Théo his whole family all have French names (courtesy of @gingerest-ale ! ), so the nickname coco is a French nickname!

Ren stopped, dutifully keeping hold of the lead — just how her papa taught her. Théo shifted Rowan so he was holding him with one arm. He walked towards the horse and patted Ren on the head as he passed her. Rowan reached out his chubby little hands towards Cashew’s nose. The old horse leaned forward until her nose bumped against Rowan’s hands, and he giggled, high pitched and with utter joy and delight. Cashew inched forward until she was close enough to nuzzle her nose into Rowan’s hair, and Théo couldn’t help the smile as Cashew nibbled at the curly red hair on Rowan’s head. It only made him giggle more, his hands clumsily patting the underside of Cashew’s snout. Ren was stroking the horse’s shoulder, but kept her eyes on Théo and Rowan.   “Alright, coco. Ready for your first horse ride?” When Théo pulled Rowan away from Cashew’s nose, he struggled to get back to her. “Papa, pony!” “I know, I know. Just hold on a moment.” Rowan kept struggling, trying to climb over Théo’s shoulder to get back to Cashew’s head. But Théo held on to him, knowing that the mare would stay still and Ren was close by to keep petting her. When Théo lifted Rowan and set him on Cashew’s back, he stilled, eyes wide. Théo kept a careful hold on him, since there was no way Rowan would be able to maintain his balance on his own. Rowan leaned forward and placed his hands flat on Cashew’s back. Cashew shifted her weight slightly and Rowan’s fingers curled up, but there was nothing for him to hold onto. “It’s okay, I’ve got you.” Rowan smiled up at him, his eyes still wide. But soon enough, he turned back to petting Cashew’s back. “Ren, why don’t you start walking. Just keep it slow.”

Hey Wormy! Have any Rowan thoughts today, and how are you

Hiya Lotus! I'm doing okay, how are you?

I'm currently rotating an idea for a Dungeons and Dragons type AU. Link is a fighter, Rowan a spellcaster of some sort. There's not a "witch" class specifically but that's the aesthetic he'd be. I just need to find a class and subclass and stuff that I think would fit him!

They're both powerful and they respect each other and know that they can fight their own fights - in mundane stuff and in battles. But they're also protective of each other!

I have this scenario where they're attacked by some enemy. Link puts himself between it and Rowan, ready to fight it. But Rowan is standing behind him, eyes glowing with magic, just mouthing "I'll kill you" to the enemy.

Rowan can also imbue his baked goods with magic! And also has a habit of turning annoying customers into frogs (temporarily)

STARDEW VALLEY AU HELLO

Yessss Stardew Valley AU!

Rowan is "the farmer" in the AU. With all the other characters, I haven't quite decided if it's going to be an LU AU or general LoZ Linksmeet AU, but other Links/Zeldas/NPCs will take on the roles of the other residents of Pelican Town! (For example, Time/OoT Link is the mayor and Four/FS Link is the blacksmith but they don't have the personalities of Lewis or Clint).

I think you'll be especially excited to hear that the Skyward Sword trio will be in a polycule! SS Link and Groose are the carpenters and do general contractor work. Zelda lives with them but works outside of the town. I haven't decided if they are already in the polycule or if it happens over the course of the story though!

So far in what I've written, Rowan has only met Sky, Groose, Time, Ravio, Legend, and Granny (from Wind Waker). Warriors/HW Link will come to town later.

The WIP game has me intrigued! String worms.. AND WYRMS? :0

You've discovered one of the WIPs that are named that way so they are easier to search for quickly... because I could never remember what it was called when it used to be just wyrm au.

This was created when I was feeling slightly hysterical, and possibly when I wasn't feeling well XD

Imagine cowboy au. But dragons instead of horses. And then someone mentioned worms on a string, so of course the dragon cowboys are herding wyrms (on strings).

(yes the wyrms are fluffy and yes they have silly eyes. They occasionally have a bridle and lead rope on them, hence the "on a string")

This AU has a lot of lore for being such a silly idea ^^
