omg she just deleted that tweet for some reason
she always deletes her tweets, she's tweeted a few times before
post because it got long!
I saw Young Adult a month or two ago and related to Mavis in troubling amounts, not only her relationship with other people but maybe my favorite part of the movie shown her relationship with herself. I hate when movies throw together a couple, and ~it's tru love 5eva~ but they never really show why.
YA shows Mavis pulling her hair out. I want to say something about her sleeping like falling facefirst into bed rather than taking off her makeup, getting under the sheets, etc, but I don't really remember sdjfsdfl. She downs liters of Diet Coke which doesn't sound like anything, haha, but I just thought of this. She's supposed to be a fancy city lady, right? It's 2010/2011, I think she would've heard about Diet Coke chemicals or whatever. Not to mention that it's diet...
I guess since I haven't even really seen that many/haven't been watching them that long, I don't know about different types of movies but for some reason look to them to tell me what to do in life. I wasn't so much thinking about Mavis not changing as I was, "What am I supposed to do now? Fuck Patton Oswalt?"
So I was wondering why somebody who liked it did, because I was just teetering, "what do?" (just thought of this: Maybe I didn't know what to do with it because it didn't tell me. WohHoOohOhOhHH) Your approach totally makes more sense, and I love your defense of the ending. I just read a few reviews of the ending, and one described it as "bleak," I guess because it's not the conventional way, but like now, it doesn't even seem... bleak. She finishes the book and seems pleased with herself and goes back to the city...
Another person wrote that we don't know if she fixes her car or not which I don't think is as important as the fact that she kept the damage throughout the film.
Oh man, it's been a while since I've seen Roger Dodger.
