I missed you on the tail end of YJ so... Tim/Cassie, Ed/Virgil, Tye/Sam and the ever present Dick/Artemis/Wally
oh, dear, I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you with the first three.
Tim/Cassie: uh. It sort of came out of nowhere for me. I don’t have particularly strong feelings one way or the other, to be honest, because the writers never actually gave me a reason to ship them except for that moment at the end. But that fits in with the rest of the season: not developing all these new characters (with some exceptions, but Tim and Cassie got so little development it seemed like the writers were trying to make development for them by putting them in that relationship).
As for Ed/Virgil and Tye/Sam, I have to ask—was that a thing on tumblr? Because honestly I never once thought about shipping when it came to the runaways. Like, it never came close to crossing my mind. I dunno, I just saw them all as a group bonded together rather than as couples. I’ll have to keep it in mind if I ever go back and rewatch.
Dick/Artemis/Wally: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This requires an entire essay. Which I had actually started before I left, and then of course the finale happened. I’ll get back to you on the full essay thing, but I’ll say this much: I ship Dick and Wally together, and I ship Dick and Artemis together, but neither of those ships can touch museumheist because the three of them fucking complete each other.
Artemis needs someone that understands what it’s like to be a Gothamite and to be trained from a young age due to extraordinary circumstances (Dick, and the same is true for him when it comes to Artemis), but she also needs someone to pull her from the darkness (Wally, and this is what Dick needs as well because working with Batman is probably really fucking depressing). Wally needs someone that won’t put up with his shit (both of them), but he and Artemis need someone to provide a buffer because the two of them can otherwise get a little testy, which is where Dick comes in.
But yeah I can go on for days and days. I like for my fic (not the smut) to demonstrate all of this, because it’s important and such.
