I use MPlayer OSX Extended on my MacBook! You have to keep your fingers on the screencapping keys while capping a scene but it's still way better than having to cap each frame individually lol.

omg i can’t imagine capping each one individually. kmplayer was awesome bc you could press start and stop and it would automatically do it for you and i think you could set the interval too like every 2 frames, for example. 

i read about some equivalents for macos but all the posts i saw are old and i’m not sure they’ll work anymore since apple banished all 32 bit apps last year

There is a free program called GIMP that I think allows you to make gifs, but I’ve never used it myself

I’ve used it for regular photoshop-ish edits over the years, but the add-ons that allow you to make gifs are super out of date and no longer work with the program.
