She grew quietly in a corner of the woman’s bedroom -- which had been empty for some time; perhaps the owner was on a trip -- at first a mass of flesh and blood. The furtive, ancient thing formed like fungus, attaching itself to the nearest surface and sucking out whatever nutrients it needed.
It was not the original, but it did not know that. In it’s dark, simple mind, it was the only creature on the earth that truly mattered in the scheme of things. The first woman and the last. It did not know it was only Lilin, a child of Lilith and Samael formed in their wretched copulation. It felt only hunger and indigence, a mold upon humanity that brought out the worst of man through obsession and fear.
As it formed limbs and a mouth, it started to remember its name. It scavenged food from servants and slaves, and within a week the monster was a beautiful young woman. Not the Japanese beauty her form was used to taking, but a darker skinned Kyrati maiden, beautiful enough to be mistaken for Kyra reborn.
It put on the colorful robes it found in the room, outfitting herself with stolen jewels and finery.
Her name was Tomie.
