y'know what no. I'm actually gonna talk about it. Look what y'all fucking did, I'm going on a rant now. Being a fan of TFP Breakdown is the worst experience of all time.
First he gets killed off for budget reasons because his actor wanted more money. (said actor then goes on to invent Gamergate a few years later.) Then his toy never releases outside of Japan so you have to import it for an absurd amount of money and it has an absurd amount of 5mm posts because of the Arms Micron gimmick. He starts getting comic appearances but does nothing and is reduced to being nothing other than Knockout's partner, and doesn't even get to keep his name for the first few years because there's already a G1 Breakdown in that continuity.
Then the 2020s roll around and we finally get another Breakdown in Earthspark but he has none of TFP Breakdown's traits (and barely any of G1's for that matter), and then we finally get a TFP Breakdown toy released in the US but it's a recolor of the worst Bulkhead toy of all time.
But hey, at least the fans have our back, right? Surely when I go on the TFP Breakdown tag on Tumblr I'll see posts that are centered around Breakdown, right? Right? FUcking wrong. It's ALLLLLL Knockout centric. It's all about different ways Breakdown could have met Knockout, or how good a partner Breakdown is to Knockout, or how sad Knockout wasn't when Breakdown fucking died.
Even when Breakdown is shipped with OTHER CHARACTERS it's also with fucking Knockout. Breakdown x Starscream x Knockout, Breakdown x reader x Knockout, Breakdown x a fucking OC x KNockout, look guysI'm so fucking original I made an OC to ship with Breakdown and FUCKING KNCOKOUT
Even on the rare TFP Breakdown post that has nothing to do with Knockout, that actually ships Breakdown and only Breakdown with a character other than Knockout, people can't fucking help themselves from finding some way to bring him up! Can't escape him on Breakbulk posts, certainly can't escape him on Breakstar posts, you can't even escape that RED FAGGOT even in the fucking Earthspark Breakbee tag. You can't even escape him in fics about G1 Breakdown sometimes.
and its no wonder these KOBD shippers don't actually give a fuck about Breakdown because Knockout fucking didn't either! When Breakdown got abducted, it was only Bulkhead and Starscream who gave a fuck, and yet him and Bulkhead is a rarepair because they're both big lads, and him and Starscream only gets shipped with him when KNOCKOUT is there. The only time Knockout even remotely visually misses Breakdown after he dies is when he doesn't have anyone to buff his fucking finish for him. Because Breakdown was such a fantastic partner that Knockout only cared about for what he could do for him.
The only character Breakdown ever actually showed romantic interest in during the 20-something episode span he was around was fucking Airachnid, and I've never seen a god damn SOUL do something with them. Yes I get she murdered him but that's pretty fucking standard with Transformers, and at least it'd be something other than just KOBD every hour of the day.
Knockout was my favorite character when I finished Prime but I'm genuinely starting to kind of hate him over this. I get it, KOBD is fun, they're fun together, Knockout's a fun character who constantly flirts with other characters but then puts an asterisk at the end "but you're not as hot as Breakdown," and they are hot together, but oh my god can we please actually give a fuck about Breakdown himself for once.
That is all. Was this something necessary for me to post? Maybe not, but it was necessary for me to write and get it off my fucking chest, because holy shit.
