Honestly, I still have a hard time thinking if this plant as a member of the Cabbage family. From its serrated leaves to its purple flowers, to its clear moon-shaped seedpod membranes that remain after the seeds and pods fall away - it seems unrelated. But then I remember the translucent seed pod membranes of Camelina; the fact that its purple flowers are cross-shaped (cruciferous); the serrated leaves of some Mustards. Honesty (Lunaria annua) is also called Money Plant, Silver Dollars, and Chinese Money - all names inspired by its dried pods, which appear in floral arrangements. It originates in the Balkans and south west Asia.
