14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory
this is asking me to pick one and im not liking this /lhj i've been thinking about Malakai a lot recently, so lemme drop his lore (cliff notes version)
When Malakai was young, he lived with his family in a spacious treehouse. He lived with his father, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and many, many cousins.
Everything was great, no one was ever hungry, everyone was free to use their powers, and nothing bad ever came.
One summer evening, after the storms had cleared and the sunset was vibrantly filling the musky sky, the vehicles arrived. The growling silver monsters with the words "NSSRC" (9. REMEMBER THAT NAME.) labeled on them massacred Malakai's family. They destroyed his home, took his family, and set everything on fire.
Malakai barely escaped. Luckily for him, he had mastered the art of invisibility.
Terrified and on the run, Malakai seeked shelter in a small forest, a place he eventually grew to love.
Tucked away in a small grove, he began to hibernate. For about, eh, 50 years or so, he slept. Eventually, a stirring outside his grove woke him. Another vehicle..?
It was not. In fact, it was just another outcast. Someone like him. Their name? Obsidian. The two became immediate friends, and spent so long together. They shared their stories, taught each other, but most of all enjoyed each others company.
Tradegy was inevitable. Eventually, Obsidian revealed his curse. His need. He had to keep moving, keep walking, just keep on. And he couldn't fight it anymore.
A dull autumn night, while Malakai was asleep, he left. Obsidian kept walking. He had to.
Once Malakai woke, he was devastated. His friend had really left him? All alone? This was too much. Instead of returning to his hibernation, he started to.. absorb. He sat in the middle of a forest clearing, directly in the sun, and absorbed light.
Unbeknownst to him, a great evil had just been defeated, and their shadow spread across the land, causing Malakai to absorb that evil. He became corrupted. His Pure Light had been penetrated by dark magic, and his body, once pure, became a vessel for the evil dwelling in him.
Recently, he has been captured by the NSSRC..

okokokok so, Haymitch was originally supposed to just be the human version of Echo, an AI of high authority and power, feared by many. initially he was cold, brash, bitter and angry. not fun to be around. his looks havent changed, aside from his hair.
his personality is DRASTICALLY different soft, considerate, stern at times, but generally kind
