one of my oldest spins that i recently got back into is transformers, especially shockwave!! he's such a wonderful, interesting character, and he's always been a huge comfort for me. i just feel like even though hes a fictional character, he's always been there for me, especially when i'm at my lowest. if i dont have anyone to turn to, i'll always have him, no matter what.

I have a newcomer! My new SpIn since a couple of weeks are jail and prisons. Real life stories, books, documentaries, reality shows, anything where there is a account of what the day to day life in jail or prison looks like. Super interested in the jargon, the rules, jailhouse life hacks, making pruno, fishing, kites, the guards. Looking at building plans, making models of them. Mostly the American penal system simply because there are a lot of shows and documentaries about them.
My biggest special interest right now is Star Trek!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!! My fave characters are Chekov from TOS, Wesley Crusher and Reginald Barclay from TNG, Odo and Miles O Brien from DS9, Tucker from Enterprise, and Saru and Michael Burnam from Discovery!!! Also Reginald Barclay is my biggest comfort character right now, I also headcanon his as being autistic!!! -🌌
I love Japanese culture and the Japanese language, as well as Japanese mythology (especially various yokai!) and Shinto and as a result I usually say my latest SpIn is Japan as a whole, but I also get really embarrassed cause I don't want to just come across as a weeb. It's hard keeping it to myself... on the bright side though, I've been teaching myself Japanese for 4 years and it's amazing to do mythology research in the original language!
My current SpIn is The Legend of Zelda! I've been playing Breath of the Wild since Christmas (I'm sure you can guess why), and I'm really invested in the series. There are so many endearing aspects- the huge magical adventure, Link and Zelda's gradual love story and how it's built on genuine trust and caring, how it handles fate and reincarnation- it really does create a truly amazing story and world that genuinely feels real and pulls you into it so well.
My current and longest running SpIn is History, flags, and Europe. I got really into it around the time my 7th grade world history class started talking about the Russian revolution and it was downhill from there. I've collected God knows how many flags, and books on ww2. I'm a powerhouse of knowledge about the Soviet Union and won't hesitate to correct anyone in history class if need be
my spin currently is eddsworld and i know thats really nerdy and 2010 but its really fun to me the idea of just a comic based off of four real friends hanging out doing stuff they cant in person and it reminds me of my friends and someone drew me a thing by request on it and it had one of the characters happy stimming in it and every time i see it i repeat the caption over and over again and happy stim and i know thats really nerdy but i love it so much its so nice and i watch it over and over
