“When you said your friend was an asshole, I thought you meant it sarcastically.” Lily Evans. (This is the biggest Lily Evans mood ever. Also only if you're taking writing prompts. Hope you have nice day.) 🌼
“When you said your friend was an arsehole, I thought you meant it sarcastically.”
Remus blows the curls out of his eyes for the tenth time in the last hour. “I said ‘a bit of an arsehole’,” Remus tried to defend James. He is standing right in front of him after all.
“Very sweet of you, Moony,” James says, and Remus nods gratefully before glancing subtly at Sirius who’s leaning on James’ shoulder. Remus, Sirius and James, along with Peter, all live in the same hall, and it only took a few short weeks before they became close friends.
After that, it took only a few more days for Remus to realize he was in deep when it came to Sirius, and googling ‘how to fall out of love with your best friend’ wasn’t very helpful at all.
He had known Lily for years, growing up together and going to the same schools, but sadly that ended when it was time for uni. Right now she was visiting him, though, and he couldn’t be more excited. It would seem it was the same for James.
“Oh come on, Evans, is it?”
“Lily,” Lily said, cold smile on her face.
“Listen, why don’t I take you out for a drink and we can talk through our differences.”
Lily scoffs, “What makes you think I want to spend any time with you at all?”
“I don’t think that,” James smiles like this is all going exactly to plan and he didn’t just steal Lily’s phone out of her hand, held it up so high she couldn’t reach, refused to let it go unless he could put his number in, but eventually relented when she punched him in the stomach. “I do think you want to spend as much time with our dear Moony here, and he’s already promised to go karaoke singing tonight.”
Shit. He forgot about that.
“Surely he can skip it,” Lily asks, but is interrupted by Sirius.
“‘Fraid not, Miss Evans. It’s not a real karaoke night without our radiant Moonbeam.”
Remus blushes and hides from Lily’s questioning glare.
“Fine,” she says. “But I refuse to sing any romantic duets unless it’s with Remus.”
Remus can see Sirius’ confused glance out of the corner of his eye, but he’s still doing his absolute best to burn a hole in the ground.
It’s not even two hours later when James and Lily are absolutely sloshed and singing ‘The Boy is Mine’ to the elated and confused cheers from the crowd.
“How long before they start dating, you think?” Sirius’ voice is warm in Remus’ ears, and he flushes from the unexpected assault.
“A week, at most?” Remus does not squeak, thank you very much.
“Ah yes,” Sirius grins, “They must keep up the indifferent act for at least a few days.”
Remus can’t help but smile when looking at Sirius’ relaxed and happy expression. “I don’t think I’ll have to share a bed tonight, to be honest.”
The look Sirius throws him makes Remus feel like someone just turned the heating up real high. “Do you want to?”
