The assumption, much like its answer, is a bitter pill to swallow. "... Put the list in reverse order. Amiko's got her shrine maiden training, sure, but she's still a human. Then Akihiro, sure he heals, but his factor doesn't work like mine and his sisters'. Gabby does heal like me, but- she's a kid, and sometimes she can be too gentle for her own good. Laura fights as mean as me, heals as mean, and has a skeleton like mine to boot."

His phone vibrates four times in rapid succession. It seems like whoever's sending the messages had them ready to go - either that, or it was thee Deadpool group chat he can't get out of. Or the kids had set something on fire and were all trying to blame each other - but he didn't smell smoke. Maybe Gabby or Jubilee were excited about something...

He reaches across his desk to remove the phone from its charger and thumbed the power button to watch the messages scroll across the screen.

Oh.

The name comes up as Unknown Number, but he knows who this is. He also knows the kid's just trying to get to him - which would work better if he wasn't telling Logan things he already knew. He sighs even as he rereads the messages one more time before typing a simple reply.

[SMS -> UNKNOWN] Nice to hear from you, too, son. [SEND]

Another message pops up right after - one from Kurt, letting him know that he, Colossus, Hank, and Storm were going out for a drink, and asking if Logan wanted to tag along.

He deletes the message and puts his phone face down on his desk before wiping his hands down his face.

Not tonight.
