I let the tears stream down my cheeks, no longer able to tolerate them back. My knees gave out, no longer able to bear my bodies weight. I bawled until my throat hurt and sniffled until I was worn-out. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I repeated this until my chest felt light. It wasn’t easy. The wound was still fresh. The death was still fresh. The silence was too disturbing. It made me feel isolated. Frightened. Unaided. All at once. It made me want to hug him. Hide in his arms forever. Feel the warmth of him against my body. I knew that was impossible. But all I could think was of him. Being in his strong arms. I cried again, yearning to feel him with me.
