Dear Expert-on-everything-clever-and-holmesy, I have a question: In ep3 of BBC's Holmes, the water in the swimming pool at which Sherlock meets with Moriarty is lapping/moving/generally making water-noises. Forgive me if this is obvious but why would the water be moving if the pool is empty? Google couldn't help me, but perhaps you can. Sincerely, dense but faithful fangirl. X
Bless your heart, I’m no expert in anything, but thank you anyway. Well, I would assume that it is because the filters are running. I don’t know much about pool maintenance so can’t say if it is normal for a public pool to keep the filters running overnight but I can say from experience of holidays in the south of France that pool filters do make a certain level of noise and general lappiness of water. I mean, that was quite a small pool so the effect was probably magnified but maybe the filters on big pools are stronger. IDEK.
