Thank you for the ask!💕 (This was a bit long as I got carried away with writing hehe)
Liam startled awake again the moment Luna began to slowly wake up and cry, this had been going on for about an hour. He’d wake up to her crying, comfort her any way possible then both fall back asleep until about fifteen minutes pass before she wakes again.
He sighed heavily, walking to her crib and looking down at her as she slightly thrashes in her lying position, eyes closed and crying. “What’s wrong now? You shouldn't be crying so much… it's okay, daddy’s here.” He tried to softly shush her but she just got louder and moved more.
Panic settled into his veins, basically welcome at the point whenever Luna cried or reacted to anything. He quickly checked her diapers and it was completely clean. He already fed her formulated milk and can't feed her more until three hours pass.
She continued wailing and he slightly whimpered as his anxiety increased, her face was almost red from so much crying and he did everything, ultimately just cradling her and rocking her, attempting to sing her to sleep again.
His own breaths were slightly shaky staring down at his daughter, until the door opened up and he raised his head. Theo walked inside, head of hair messy. “Why’s she crying so much?” He asked groggily, blinking his eyes better and turning on the nightlight as stars shined across the room.
“I-I don't know, I tried everything! She can't stop crying and she's all red… like she can't breathe! What am I supp—” Theo interrupted Liam after assessing the state both of them were in.
“Hey, shh, calm down… all of this yelling won't make it better.” He reminded him and looked at Luna, still wailing for whatever reason it was. Liam just stared in distraught and continued rocking her jittery almost.
“Have you fed her?” He questioned.
“Obviously!” He whispered, and her pitch raised higher.
Theo bit his inner cheek in thought, calmer than Liam as usual. “Have you tried swaddling her?” He asked another.
Liam knotted his eyebrows together, he’s sworn he's heard of that term before. “What? S-Swaddling?”
“Yes Liam, swaddling… wrapping her tight in a blanket?” He gestured a wrapping movement with a raised eyebrow. Liam looked down at Luna and shook his head, he hadn't thought of that, he always thought that restricting her movements was bad and that she should be free to move.
Theo noticed the way Liam’s eyes drooped from the lack of sleep, so he had to step in. “Hand her over, I’ll do it.” He opened his arms. Liam looked at him in shock.
“Liam, come on.” He whispered in a slight hurry and Liam swallowed, gently letting Theo carry Luna and he carefully set her down in her crib with the cage set down, over a fluffy blanket. Ensuring she won't thrash around too much, Theo gently swaddled her comfortably and not too tight, allowing minor leg movement.
Liam watched from behind, still panicked but now his heart was racing quicker with another added reason. Theo had learned how to swaddle a baby like that, why? It's not like it was some required knowledge anywhere or anytime in his life.
Finally he pulled back and left the swaddled Luna in the crib as she slightly moved now, still crying. Liam’s heart sunk deeper into his gut and he moved closer on instinct but a hand on his arm stopped him from reaching over. “Give it a minute… she's fine.” Theo groggily said, keeping him still.
Liam looked between him and Luna and slowly watched the way she began to calm down and softly coo instead, gradually falling asleep and coming to the realization that swaddling her was the solution. Theo decided to help out with more knowledge, “Being swaddled resembles being in the mother’s womb, which is comforting and calming for her.” He looked at Liam as he sighed heavily in relief and rubbed his tired, uncleansed face.
“Maybe I should swaddle you too, you're about to pass out.” He smirked but Liam was in his feelings, looking back at him with glossy eyes restrained.
