HELP I JUST SAW THIS i literally love u so much???
maggie can say with confidence that this is the drunkest she's ever been in her whole life ! in fact , she does say it , declaring it to mj and the empty street around them. even as the sidewalk sways beneath her and she leans against the other woman to keep from toppling over , she's grinning and giggling. how come no one ever told that life could be so fun ?? divorcing ronny was the best thing she's ever done in her whole entire life. the second best thing she's ever done ? definitely ordering that sixth jello shot.
stumbling , maggie blinks and realizes they aren't outside anymore. she's still giggling , though it's interspersed by a hiccup. which only makes her giggle harder. @anthologis is leading her somewhere , but the young woman shakes her head and tries to push away. not with any malice , duh ! just because the night is still young and she's so happy and she wants to stay like this forever. managing to escape the other's grasp , she does a little twirl , which ends with her hip hitting something solid and a very loud thud !
" quit being so stubborn and get into BED ! "
doing an accidental two step , maggie faces mj and gives a little pout. she knows , of course , that the other women is trying to take care of her , and she's grateful , truly. it's still a big , scary , amazing world out there and it's important to have a friend.
" but it's a sleepover , mj ! " it's not , not really. but she goes to grab the woman's hands in hers , pout morphing back into a wide grin. another hiccup. another giggle. she squeezes mj's hands in hers. " we gotta , like , do each other's hair and gossip and eat an entire can of whip cream. " hiccup ! " pleaaaaaase. "
Blerd Bookstore Struggle + 10 Black Speculative Fiction Anthologies
Whenever I step inside of a bookstore, my first stop is always the science fiction section. Routinely, I’ll do a scan for my favorite Black science fiction authors, and nine times out of 10, Octavia Butler, Tananarive Due, Samuel Delany and other popular Black science fiction authors have been placed on the African-American literature shelves. This seems to send a very clear message to readers: Black authors who write science fiction are somehow “other.” These stories are not considered traditional science fiction or aren’t really science fiction at all; it belongs, instead in the special interest, ethnic, or diversity categories of the bookstore. The categories that usually take up the least amount of space in the room, as if we have fewer stories to tell.
