Emiri found the only way to clear her mind and repress the anxiety that threatened to topple her, was to run. An early morning jog was a favourite ritual for her, the fresh sea breeze and the sun creeping above the horizon, elongating the shadows of those out jogging. Headphones in, she was completely in a zen state as she kept a steady pace carving along the shoreline. This early in the morning the beach was a private oasis for her, no interruptions and just the sweet melodies of her music for company. Completely unaware of her surroundings she didn’t notice the figure approaching her, not until she curved into his path and was startled by the sudden appearance of a shadow by her feet. Jumping back, she looked up with wide eyes at the unfamiliar face. “Sorry, I didn’t see you,” she stated, plucking her left earbud out of her ear.
