The aroma that emitted from the bakery, could be smelt all down the street that it resided on and always tempted Emiri in through the doors to pick something up. The sourdough bread had become a firm favourite of hers in recent months and she found herself craving it toasted most mornings. Stepping through the threshold of the establishment she was greeted by a familiar face, one that knew of her true identity in Oceanside and the work she had to carry out. “Morning,” she chimed, brightly smiling at Stella who was stood behind the counter. “Normal please? also do you have any breakfast pastries left?”
morning jogs had been part of his regular schedule lately, it’s what really started his whole morning. he’s fixing the schedule of rocksteady on his phone as he feels the sudden thump of a purse , picking it up he comes in contact face to face with the strawberry blonde ❝ what can I say , I’m a gift from god . ❞ he muses to her , clearly teasing her but remains his composure as he hands her back the purse. ❝ I’ve been good , got back from colombia a few days ago and getting the new house ready . been going to this single dad glasses or whatever , I successfully know how to brush camila’s hair . ❞
Emiri rolled her eyes at his cliche comment, a smirk working onto her lips as she thought up her reply. “The God’s must really have poor taste then,” she mused, a mischievous glint forming in her eyes. Sliding the purse back into her bag, she turned her attention to the line making sure it hadn’t moved while they’d been talking. “Colombia seems like it did you well. Dad Classes and a new house? Look at you Mr. Responsibility.”
Who would’ve thought he would be back in the same place after all? The last time he was standing in Oceanside, he was covered in blood and he had a foggy memory of what he had truly done. Over his time in prison, pieces came back slowly but surely. But nobody had to know that. And he wasn’t going to let people know the truth. Ivan wasn’t a stranger to Oceanside having grown up in Harbor Beach from a young age. He was still the corporate accountant most remembered. He was known for rebellious attitude, always dancing with the devil. He was there for a good time, not a long time but now he was back after serving his time rightfully so and all he wanted was a goddamn drink. However, his strides came to a halt when he heard footsteps behind him and turned around to see who could possibly be so close to him. It felt like they were practically breathing on to him. His time away made him more suspicious than ever and he had been a mere few days experiencing freedom again. But, the news in Oceanside kept him on the weary side. He would be damned if someone took his life away again. The tall figure turned around, looking down at them, tilting his head in confusion. “Anything I can help you with today?” The blond sarcastically asked.
Familiar faces in Oceanside often were people she had met through the Scorpions or Harrison, so when she saw someone she knew from outside of the that sphere a smile grew on her face. “Ivan,” she chimed, as the smile dropped her face. Interrupting people when they clearly didn’t want to be spoken to had become a forte of hers recently and she wished she had just waved at him rather than walk over. “How have you been?” she asked, her voice less full of her normal cheery demeanor as she tried to figure out whether to excuse herself or not. Truth was, seeing Ivan made her yearn to be an official accountant again and back on the right side of the rules. “I can go if your busy.”

Coffee had become a necessity routine in her life since she first took up the position with the Scorpions, a daily part of her morning was to grab a large coffee from the Daily Dose before heading into work. Today the line was longer than normal and found herself absently mindlessly scrolling through her Instagram feed looking at pictures of dogs and various adverts for workout leggings. Her attention was completely on the phone that she didn’t notice her purse slipping out of her pocket and hitting the ground, until a familiar face presented it to her. “Oh shit, lucky your here,” she stated, her nose crinkling with a smile. “How have you been Rafael? Haven’t seen you in a while.”
“ Em, it’s a good thing we never had kids cause I don’t think I would be able to give you full custody of them, so I doubt I’d be able to give you full custody of King. Besides he’d miss me” Harrison replied looking over. To be entirely honest, he wish he did have had a chance to have kids with the woman in front of him He was forty years old now and his prospects to have them weren’t looking great. He knew though that he had specific expectations though and getting married before kids was the order they had to go in and he couldn’t even get the marriage part of the arrangement down. He didn’t know if he would have made a good dad or not, but he had hoped to make a better one than his dad had been. He knew what not to do pretty well. “I was a frat boy. We know this comes out when I drink too much”
It was rare that both were alone at public functions and the CEO wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. If he had no set plans neither did she, which made his strange jealousy over them disappear and allowed him to be a lot more of himself again. “ Yeah I know, but I still know mine have always been your favorite” He teased before shaking his head at the mention of King again, “ I know when I’ve been bested and natural beauty is something I can’t compete with. “ He added before taking her hand and drawing his ex close to him. He slid one hand to her waist while the other stayed resting in her own hand. Harrison kissed her cheek then as he started to move with her to the music coming from the distance. “ That would be pretty easy. I’m good at pretending to be someone I’m not. But how about I just be myself, but a little less me”
A comment about how the court system would see differently danced on her tongue as she wanted to respond the comment Harrison made, but she bit in back deciding that too many glimpses of the old him where shinning through. “I think we would both miss you,” she mused, a delicate smile working its way onto her lips. Seeing him smile and relax into her presence made her feel like a decade hadn’t passed, that they were sat on some trail near her Mum’s farm without a care in the world. Back to when Scorpions and Vipers were not a daily conversation, and a ring sat on her finger that she was terrified to damage or loose. The days they were in love.
As she felt his arms wraps around her, the want to protest or mock melted away as she felt herself return home. For a few moments, she remained speechless, stuck in the moment of feeling him guide her once more, settling into his touch that she never knew she craved until now. “You can always be a little less yourself,” she murmured, her hand placing in the small of his back as she let her eyes stray upwards. Their height difference meant she always looked up at him, it was always her favourite view of him. Her eyes traced his jawline and the stubble that graced it, before lowering back down into the nape of his neck onto his collarbone that she use to litter with kisses and bites weekly. Pressing her lips together she tried to move her gaze beyond him, not wanting to complicate the situation with her lust.
Emiri had been enjoying the atmosphere of the event, although in some areas anxiety after the gala still lingered as an awful reminder. Her eyes drifted around as she watched people tentatively sniffing their food, or watching intently as the food was being prepared. As her stomach pained with hunger, she searched to see the stall with the smallest queue and the one that looked the last chance of being poisoned. Deciding on the L'oro Di Mapoli stall, having recognized the normal chef working their she started weaving in and out the crowd the best she could. As she made her way around a large group of males, she felt herself knock against someone. “Sorry, really hard to navigate this crowd when your vertically challenged,” she mused with a smile.
setting: heading towards the fantastic bounce island
who: closed to @emiri-osman
It felt like everyone was at this Summer Palooza and Ethan was practically buzzing from the excitement. Most times he’d see people here and there throughout his daily outings but today he’s ran into a number of his friends. After washing his hands and face from the 2nd, yes 2nd, ice cream sandwich Ethan was close to the coveted bounce island. One day he’ll make enough money and he’ll be able to have one for himself. He’d do a whole castle but it’d be hard to actually live in that thing. Ethan took a step and nearly collided with someone and laughed at who it was. Instead of saying hey his arms went around Emi’s waist and Ethan lifted her up in a huge hug. “Feels like it’s been twenty years since we’ve last seen each other, Em.” He said, eventually setting her down. “Surprised you didn’t bring the pup with you.”
The large crowds that had gathered at the event, left Emiri searching everywhere before she moved to avoid Harrison. It was the downside of City events, seeing Harrison with a date was not enjoyable which never improved despite the length of time they had been broken up. A wave of relief washed over her as she collided with Ethan, knowing that she wouldn’t have to be on avoidance tactics for a while. “Twenty years, it was only last week you demolished a pizza in record time on my sofa,” she mused, a grin forming of her lips as she eased into the welcome company. “King doesn’t do well with crowds, he wants to befriend everyone and won’t stop until everyone has stroked him.” Her green hues looked over towards the beach, imagining the white ball of fluff running around manically trying to introduce himself to everyone. “Are you here with anyone?”
“ Not long enough? Was I the one that texted the other about a dog destroying their furniture?” Harrison replied raising a brow. He The pair were not off to a good start today and the CEO knew this was his fault. He had accepted a long time ago that he was the villain in Emiri’s life despite how much he didn’t want to be. He just didn’t know how else to keep her at a distance without being a complete nightmare. “ You know we wouldn’t even have to see eachother at all of it weren’t for the fact that we work together. Stop acting like I go out of my way to ruin your day. You know what I’ve been drinking and discussing semantics really kills my buzz so I’m going to stop.“ It was Harrison’s fault she had even joined the Scorpions but it baffled him as to why she stayed. He knew it wasn’t for him so what was tethering her to bad memories? He just knew that the day she finally got tired of his shit was the day he lost perhaps the only person who knew the person he used to be.
“Seems like we had the same idea” The reality was Harrison didn’t want to have to be tied to a person today when he had some ideas on his mind. Having a ticking clock really got on his nerves. “Meet anyone interesting?” He asked raising a brow. His teasing stopped though when she mentioned how he wasn’t being nice to her. Had he really fallen so far in the hole he had dug for himself that he actually liked making her upset? The Harrison from ten years ago would have kicked his ass. “You know King would rather jump in the ocean. I’d probably just be dead in there and he’d just be jumping at the shore.“ He replied laughing a bit when it came the the fluffy Samoyed. “ So I’m a sexy moody CEO to you? ” He asked giving her another smirk before holding out his hand to her. It didn’t make up for anything he had said today, but the alcohol buzzing in him told him to play nice and stop being such a dick. “ I’m not some random guy, but I can offer a dance. And I’ll stop being a complete nightmare today.” He offered. it didn’t make up for anything but it was as good of an olive branch he could extend at the moment.
-
“Yes, the dog you half own destroyed something but if you don’t want me texting you just give me full custody,” she mused, with rising one eyebrow knowing that Harrison would never relinquish ownership of his beloved dog, the only thing she swore still blindly loved him. A loud scoff left her at his next comment, her eyes dramatically rolling as she folded her arms across her bare torso. At first she had appreciated the job that Harrison had got for, but once she truly understood the extent of what it involved a part of her felt betrayed and trapped. Overtime though she learnt how to make the best out of the situation, the downside being that it involved seeing Harrison daily which ripped open her wounds never letting them heal. “Your buzz? You sound like a frat boy.”
Her heart thudded into her rib cage at the revelation that he was alone at the event, for once she wouldn’t have to witness someone draped on his arm all night and laughing at his jokes. Swallowing hard she cursed herself for being excited that he was alone. “Nope but the night is still young and there’s plenty of nice looking abs,” she teased, her green hues looking past him to visibly scan a man standing behind him. Curtsy would be to ask him if he had seen or met anyone, but she fear of the answer held her back as her eyes drifted back to him. “The Ocean is more interesting than you, so I couldn’t blame him.” A similar smirk rose up on her lips, unable to stop herself from falling for his charming ways. It was a split between her head and heart, her head telling her to walk away and her heart craving to have intimate touch. “Can I pretend you are some random guy though?” she posed, with a playful tilt of her head. “Always had a thing for British accents.”
Harrison had seen Emiri as soon as she walked onto the beach setting. It was as if after ten years he had a radar that always told him where she was. Perhaps it was the universe telling him that no matter how much he wanted her to give up on him and start a life without him, they were too tied at this point to actually live separate lives like they had intended. The CEO gave her, her space before downing what was his third drink and making his way over to her. Harrison knew Emiri was probably not wanting anything to do with him after their incident at her home involving their dogs destructive habits, but when had Harrison every done anything that was considered the right thing?
“ Long time no see. “ He smirked running a hand down her arm briefly to get her attention. “ No date today or is he hiding?” He asked with a half smirk. He had seen her walk alone, but that didn’t mean anything. People were meeting one another here today and he had seen it first hand. He had shown up on his own so that he didn’t feel like he had any obligations today. If he wanted to spend time with someone for a long while, he wouldn’t have to go back to anyone. “Though hiding thing’s hasn’t really gone well lately has it?” He teased, giving her a knowing smirk. Harrison didn’t know why he tried to push Emiri’s buttons. Maybe it was because he knew she was the one person who held onto who the real him was and he wasn’t sure how to function with that information. Maybe it wasn’t that deep and he just had a habit of teasing because that had become their normal dynamic now. It really didn’t matter because the words still left his lips and he knew he shouldn’t have been so open about it.
-
Emiri was enjoying her time at the event, being by the sea always made her happy and the atmosphere was exhilarating. It had lead her to already having consumed two pina coladas as she soaked it all in. Being surrounded in lots of commotion and people enjoying themselves had made her forget the anxiety and stress she was feeling over her a particular ex that she wanted to desperately forget about for one night. As she picked up her third drink she sipped at it, a smile forming as her eyes searched the crowd for a familiar face. Annoyance rose in her as her eyes settled upon him, her smile drifting as she noticed he was heading straight for her. It was too late to turn round and head in the opposite direction, or make it look like she didn’t see him.
“Not long enough,” she quipped, sipping her drink through the straw as her eyes wandered down his bare abdomen. Even though she theoretically hated him, there was always that part that was deeply attracted to him which caused her to shift uncomfortably. “No date, I decided to see who I meet,” she mused, her eyes snapping back up to meet his. Of course, the one time she decided to be solo he had as well. The next words out of his mouth, caused her cheeks to redden and her brow to furrow in annoyance. Harrison always knew how to get under her skin, finding the quickest route to annoy her after ten years he had become well practiced and she was beginning to believe he enjoyed her being irritated. “If you can’t be nice to me, please just go bury yourself in the sand so King can dig you up tomorrow,” she stated, gesturing towards the beach. “Or find someone who will fall for the sexy moody CEO thing you have going on, as I just want to dance with some random guy and drink pina coladas.”
When it came to the world of mechanics, his older sister Grace was far superior in knowledge and experience. Fortunately for Fletcher, she had ensured he was competent in the basics should he ever find himself alone and in need of mechanical assistance in a foreign city or country. Which was a common theme given his job within the Vipers, had allowed him to travel not just the breadth of the states, but overseas and around the world on occasion too. Fletcher had been out and about, running errands that weren’t too important, so when he got the call for help from a certain red head he couldn’t help but oblige and make the short trip over to her home on the other side of town. Upon his arrival, he kicked the stand out before stepping over his bike and pulling his helmet from his head before resting it upon the seat of his bike. “Easy mistake to make.“ He quipped, as he turned to the woman, returning the embrace briefly before pulling away. “I’m surprised I’m your first port of call though. Your ex-fiancé, not so good with his hands?” He teased, before his attention shifted toward her vehicle.
-
Emiri left the warm embrace and lent against the back of her yellow mustang, with an expressionless face. Before the gala Harrison was always the person she rang when stuck, he would have happily agreed to have paid the bill to call out a mechanic and driven her to work himself. However, the air between them was tense since his apology and she couldn’t think of anything worse than ringing him in a moment of need. “He isn’t good wit his hands especially if his suit gets dirty,” she mused, tilting her head slightly, “besides he is a dick and I don’t like having him involved in my life.” Patting the boot of her car she straightened and gestured towards the flat left rear. “If you wouldn’t mind being a gentlemen and fixing my poor baby, I would be internally grateful and will repay you however you wish and if you do it topless I will forever be in your debt,” she teased, with a pout.
Just as he was about to ask if she could bring King along to meet his sis, Emi brought out a bowl and it caused Ethan’s eyes to widen. “Are you-” he started as he looked at her, “a magician? How the hell did that ball fit in your pocket?” He’s heard from different women that women’s pants have piss poor pockets so he was floored by this. “So, before I got distracted by the ball I was gonna ask if you can bring King with you when you come by to meet my sister? Honestly, it’s more for me to hang out with him than her.” He really wants to get a pet of his own to spoil but can’t decide on what kind. “What are our plans for after this walk tonight? Go out? Stay in? Personally I won’t mind hanging out. Just the two of us. Order a pizza or something and toss a movie on.” King finally caught wind of the ball and sat between them, eyes glued on it. Ethan gave his head a playful scratch and said, “Not yet, bud. We’ve got to get you away from the street. Dog park’s just around the corner.” Ethan gave the leash a slight tug to get him moving again. “Actually, how about Greek instead of pizza?”
-
Emiri looked at him puzzled by his astonishment over pulling a ball from a pocket, her lip raised as she stood for a few moments looking at him before she realized. “Oh I wear men’s tracksuits for the bigger pockets,” she mused, demonstrating how big her pocket was. Seeing Ethan excited about his sister visiting was a new concept for her, with her own sibling relationship being high strained and seldom seeing her estranged brother who was in New York. It made her wonder what their relationship would be like if their parents didn’t separate them. “Of course I can bring him other, he loves meeting new people and showing off how amazing he is,” she reached down and patted him between his ears. “I did have a very important date with cleaning my shower tray,” she teased, with a grin “but you have won me over with the Greek food. Haven’t had it in ages.” Taking back up her stride alongside King and Ethan, she placed the ball back in her pocket turning it round in her fingers. “What film did you have in mind? No horror or jump scares!”

Showing up at Emiri’s to deal with the former couples dog was something Harrison could use to keep the wall up between them. If he could focus on other aspects of their relationship, he didn’t have to deal with that big ball of tension that had been left after her hospital visit. He apologized to her. Harrison never apologized to anyone about anything and now he was moving around pretending it never happened. It was in many ways a cowards way out, but Harrison didn’t discuss his feelings of the heart to anyone. At least not anymore. If that mean the tension would remain between them, then Harrison would continue to live with it.
He did however also miss his dog though. The pair had at times a frosty relationship so more often than not King was with Emiri than leaving piles of white fur on the black décor of his mansion. The fact they were previously fighting through text earlier also hung in the air. Harrison had no idea what he was walking into today.
As soon as the door opened, Harrisons default expression appeared on his face. The general mix of distance and amusement lined his features as he walked into her home. “ Do you think this was King’s way of saying you needed to redecorate?” Harrison mused with a smirk on his face. His expression changed as soon as he saw the remnants of her couch and the CEO shook his had at the disaster left. “ Shit. He is upset” He added. “ Whatever you want to buy to replace it. I’ve got you covered. Lets go get him out of your room before he moves onto eating your shoes”
-
Out of everyone that Emiri knew Harrison could push her buttons the most and so seeing his amused expression as she gestured him in left her wanting to kick the back of his legs. Only he could walk into her house like he owned it and be bold enough to insult her decorating style. Yet she was presently surprised as she saw his features change, upon seeing her sofa and various scraps of fabric with jaw marks dotted on the floor.
“You think,” she sarcastically remarked, folding her arms. Unable to hold back an eye roll she sighed at his comment about replacing things with money, of course Harrison believed in throwing money at a problem to make it go away rather than actually addressing it. That is exactly what he always did. “I don’t need the money thank you,” she coldly stated, still infuriated by their text argument.
Obviously he regretted the apology, which stung. It had left her feeling hollow and empty again just like when he left her the day of their wedding, wounds slashed upon by his words. Emiri had healed knowing that he was scumbag and their was nothing she could have done to save their relationship, now however she found herself laying awake at night contemplating whether she could have saved them.
“Sure.” Drifting away from the carnage, she walked into the hallway hearing his steps behind her as she turned the corner into her room. As she stepped through the thresh-hold her eyes widened as she saw a new level of destruction that her beloved pup had caused as she saw her various sex toys scattered about the bedroom floor. “Fuck,” she exclaimed breathlessly turning to close the door, but realizing it was too late as Harrison’s figure filled the frame. “Get out,” she shouted, pushing against his chest. “
Having security on her constantly was something Giada was used to - to a degree. But after the Gala things had been turned up considerably and she couldn’t even go pick up dry cleaning or go to an exec lunch without someone on her tail. Normally she would be able to ignore it and move on with her day but she didn’t get a lot of sleep the night before and was feeling particularly annoyed. Walking back into The Daily Breeze, she spotted Emiri and it was like a get out of jail card. Pointing in her direction, relief washed over her at having a reason to get rid of him. “Have a meeting, Dave. I think I can handle walking a few feet on my own if you want to go. I’ll scream if I need you.”
Crossing over to her, Giada smiled widely. “Emiri, thank you for coming in. Our last accountant made a real cluster fuck of the books. Come with me.” She gestured for the other to follow as she walked toward her large, corner office.
-
Emiri overheard Giada talking to her security and couldn’t hold back a smile. Women in positions of power gained immense respect from Emiri, it made her think about her mother and how far she would have gone without her father holding her back. Or even her own career if she hadn’t fallen for Harrison. Giada was the epitome of what she wanted to be so watching her expertly handled a situation was amazing.
Following her lead she walked next to her, “I’m always happy to help in anyway I can especially if someone was terrible at their job.” Picking up the slack of others was something she knew would gain her brownie points with the Scordarto’s.
Damn. She knows him too well for his own good and Ethan dramatically sighed, sticking a pin on this for a later time. Because he may go ahead and do the doggy sofa but that throne, oh that’s in there and it’s absolutely getting built. He could always set it up at his house and sit on it like a giant in a tiny castle. “Fiiiiiine. You win. I won’t put a throne in your house. And your dog is picky because he’s got class. A classy dog should have the best food and toys money can buy.” If he ever gets a pet Ethan knows he’ll spoil it rotten. “I’ll look up a plan and get material for the sofa. Can I leave it in your garage? I’ll bring whatever tools I need and set it up there.” Her house is about a block away and King didn’t look anywhere near tuckered out from his walk. They may need to go another round. “Absolutely. She hasn’t been here since February and we talk all the time but seeing her is different. We were very close as kids even though I’m six years older than her. If you’re not too busy you should come by and meet her. I can see the both of you getting along.” He wished his sis would just take the plunge and move here. It’s not like she has a whole lot happening in Memphis. “Should we pick up his ball and take him to the dog park? I can’t picture him chilling out after this walk anytime soon.”
-
Emiri knew it wouldn’t take a lot to make Ethan concede in his argument to build a throne so when he declared he wouldn’t build a throne for King. “Thank Goodness, you did almost have me there,” she teased, a playful grin spreading across her features. There was truth to his word, King was a dog and between her and Harrison, he lived a lifestyle of luxury. “He already does receive the best money can buy.” Sometimes she felt the dog ate better than her looking at the receipts from shopping for him. Emiri grinned at him brainstorming her suggestion, “Of course you can leave it at the garage. I never go in there anyway.” Sibling relationship was an area Emiri knew little about, with issues existing with her own older brother, whom she hadn’t spoken to in years. So hearing about the closeness of Ethan and his sister shocked her. “I will have to check my calendar and see if I can drop by to meet her. She sounds interesting.” Glancing down at King, she nodded in agreement with Ethan, pulling a ball out of her trouser pocket. “Good thing I always come prepared.”
