5 Tips On Blow Drying Your Hair Like A Pro
Here are 5 quick tips on Blow drying your hair like a pro! Everyone loves their hair when they walk out of the salon right? Well how about loving your hair at home too? Here are 5 tips on how to master your style at home.
1. Your shampoo and your conditioner are the base of your style. If you are going for a smooth sleek style, then you want to use a professional line of smoothing shampoo and conditioner. If you want more volume and more lift from your style then I recommend using a volume shampoo and conditioner. What you use to shampoo your hair is one of the most important things to add to your daily regimen. If you have color treated hair it is also important to use a professional line that has a color fade complex built in so you are not washing your color down the drain.
2. Styling Products... When smoothing or wearing your hair straight, I recommend a smoothing serum or argan oil. The key to using an oil is to apply the smoothing/oil from the ends up and not directly on the root area. You want to use a root lift or a volumizing spray right at the root line to give your hair a little volume and lift. A common mistake is that most people apply their serums and oils right at the root line and move downward towards the ends and then they end up with a flat greasy mess.. BTW less is more! Always start off with a small pearl size for your oils and serums. You can add more if need be.
3. NEVER, EVER use a brush when your hair is soaking wet. Your hair is most vulnerable when it is wet. Always use a wide tooth comb when detangling your hair. If you blow dry your hair and immediately start using your brush you will snap your hair and cause unnecessary breakage. I recommend rough drying your hair with your hands until your hair is about 80% dry. Then you can start woking with your round brush or paddle brush paying more attention to the areas that need the most lift and the most smoothing.
4. Hot Tools....Whether you are curling your hair or flat ironing your hair please make sure your hair is 100% dry!!!! You can also use a flat iron spray to protect your hair from the heat of your iron. If you are using a flat iron, I recommend a ceramic iron that is in-fared so you are smoothing the cuticle layer of the hair with each pass. This creates extreme shine and conditions your hair with each pass. Now let's not get PASS happy!!... Do not go over one section of your hair more than 2 times. If you are, then your iron is not hot enough and you can actually break off your hair at the root. (YIKES!) For best results use a flat iron that is at least 320 degrees.
5. Last But Not Least..... Finishing products.. Sheesh after you did all this work you want to preserve your style right? I recommend following up your style with an argan oil to smooth down any fly aways. Remember, you apply the oil from the ends up. If you have a cute, short, sassy cut, you can apply a molding paste or wax to keep your style fresh all day long. You can also use a light styling hairspray or a firm hair spray depending on whether you are staying in the office all day or traveling through a wind storm.

Find the perfect stylist for YOU!
Longing for the perfect relationship? One that makes you feel beautiful, loved and fabulous? You can start by checking out eHairmony.com . . . Just Kidding !!!
Okay, finding the perfect stylist is not quite as daunting as searching for the perfect mate but it sure feels like it sometimes. It IS a lot like finding the perfect therapist though. You want to feel comfortable spending time together and trust her to identify your specific problems and offer solutions to solve them. Here are four guidelines to finding the perfect stylist for you: 1. Communication. A healthy relationship starts with clear and honest communication. You are creating a relationship. Schedule an initial consultation to discuss reasonable expectations and a plan to achieve your impeccable look. Bring photos to the consult. Ask which styles complement your hair texture, face shape, and every day lifestyle. Ask the stylist their professional opinion. It will allow you to see if you both are on the same page . Describe your personal style and be sure to let her know how much time you are willing to spend on your hair each day! 2. Presentation. If your stylist is not, well . . . stylish, how do you expect them to make you the beautiful, chic person you know you can be? You want a stylist that lives and breathes their art. The shop should also be well appointed, clean and nicely decorated. Were you greeted and made to feel welcome the moment you walked in? Do you feel this is a place you can look forward to visiting every 4 to 6 weeks? Remember your salon is like your second home. A place where you can relax and let your stylist take over. This is a relationship after all. 3. Education. Theirs, and YOURS. If the members of your salon’s team are not consistently updating their skills and learning new techniques how can they educate you and help you stay current and stylish? Is your stylist offering to educate you on how to keep up on your style at home? Is she showing the amount of product to use in your hair so you don't overuse? Did she use a flatiron to style your hair? Yes? Then by George, you had better know how to use a flatiron too. 4. Referrals. If you see someone with great hair – ask for a referral. It takes time for a stylist to get to know you, your preferences, your goals and lifestyle. You can reduce the risk of getting into a bad relationship by ruthlessly quizzing your friends, family and strangers on the street about how happy they are with their current stylist! Now that you have found the perfect partner in beauty, the one that makes you glow, keeps your coif looking great for at least six weeks between trims – tell everyone you know! Most salons offer referral programs so you might even get a reward for helping to make the world a more beautiful place!
