Long after the current administration passes from the scene, President Joseph R. Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be remembered not for their bumbling, embarrassing encounters with the Chinese, nor for their steadfast refusal to negotiate a peaceful settlement with the Russians, which set off a disastrous war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. Instead, they will likely be remembered as the abettors of Israel’s transformation of Gaza into an abattoir, and will leave a legacy as bloodstained as Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger’s.
The elite love him but for some reason won’t say why.
If these people love Kissinger so much, why won’t they say so openly? The secrecy of the event implied a sense of shame, or at least sheer protectiveness, even though at this point, Kissinger’s own problems from hell are not really contested.
At the top of the stairs, I glimpsed Eric Schmidt, the billionaire former Google CEO who co-authored a book on artificial intelligence with Kissinger. I asked him what it was like to collaborate with Dr. K, but he turned back inside.
Now, it was just me and the guards, the NYPD, and the diplomatic details, all of whom were getting a little sick of me but were maybe also becoming my friends. Asked who his favorite celebrity sighting of the night was, one of the library guards replied, “I’m just here to get paid.” Peeking past him, I could make out a green monogram of “HK” at the ballroom’s entrance, and the staff brought out giant glass urns in which they lit candles as the sun set over Fifth Avenue.
Another guard cut me a break and told me Blinken had entered through the service entrance. I decided to wait to see if I could catch him coming out.
Antony Blinken visits Kyiv and announces $2.2B in additional aid for the EU region.
Antony Blinken visits Kyiv and announces $2.2B in additional aid for the EU region. The United States intends to provide $2.2B to bolster the security of Ukraine and 18 other countries in the region, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during his unannounced visit to Kyiv. The Biden administration has informed the US Congress of its “intent to make a further $2.2B available in long-term investments under Foreign Military Financing to bolster the security of Ukraine and 18 of its neighbors; including many of our NATO Allies, as well as other regional security partners potentially at risk of future Russian aggression”. This new funding is in addition to the latest $675M tranche of security assistance for Ukraine, which US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced during remarks made in Germany.
The costs of rebuilding Ukraine are going to be significant and will require government and private funding of massive reconstruction projects. Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland and Ralph Norman of South Carolina formally announced impeachment artic
Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland and Ralph Norman of South Carolina formally announced impeachment articles against Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, with Harris saying in a statement Afghanistan has become an “unmitigated catastrophe [and] preventable tragedy [that] rests solely on the shoulders of President Biden and his administration, and specifically the Secretary of State.”
“We’re the most powerful nation on the planet, and we must make clear to the Taliban that we are going to stay to get our folks out as long as that takes. Secretary Blinken’s complete and utter failure of managing this avoidable catastrophe makes him unfit for leadership, and I hope my colleagues will join me in pushing for his removal,” wrote Dr. Harris, who represents Elkton and the Eastern Shore.
Harris informed Fox News’ “Ingraham Angle” on Friday that there’s a bipartisan sentiment that the Biden administration “botched” the Afghanistan withdrawal – and that most Americans must be informed that the State Department, not the Pentagon, was actually in charge of the effort.
“Very few things that we do on a bipartisan basis in Washington. We on a bipartisan basis agree this … withdrawal is a catastrophe,” Harris informed host Pete Hegseth.
“[The State Department] had been the ones who did not know where our Americans were. They had been the ones who did not have plans to evacuate everybody. They had been the ones who allowed some of the military to depart before we evacuated our Americans. This first and foremost falls squarely on the secretary who headed the department that was in charge of this withdrawal,” he stated.
Norman called into question Blinken’s adherence to the Constitution he swore to uphold after his January confirmation.
“He is secretary of state. On January 26, he took an oath to defend the Constitution and to protect the American people. He failed in every respect,” stated Norman, who represents Rock Hill and the rural areas east of Columbia.
Norman informed Hegseth that by merely looking at the timeline of events from when Biden started offering withdrawal dates and deadlines and comparing them to memoranda the administration was receiving, it’s clear the State Department provided flawed advice.
“[T]he embassy [was] evacuated of 3,000 individuals on April 27th. On May 15, he obtained a memo that it was dangerous over there and to get Americans out. Bagram failed on July 2. We opened the prison up to probably the most dangerous terrorists along with all of our equipment. It is just been a disaster from day one,” he stated.
He compared Blinken’s actions in office to what he described as the decisive leadership of Trump-era Secretary Michael Pompeo.
“[Pompeo] gave briefings and he had an action plan. Blinken has failed. That is why the disaster is there and whether or not Biden listens to him or not, he ought to resign. That is why Dr. Harris and I are going to impeach him.”
