I Crashed Henry Kissinger’s 100th-Birthday Party

The elite love him but for some reason won’t say why.

If these people love Kissinger so much, why won’t they say so openly? The secrecy of the event implied a sense of shame, or at least sheer protectiveness, even though at this point, Kissinger’s own problems from hell are not really contested.

At the top of the stairs, I glimpsed Eric Schmidt, the billionaire former Google CEO who co-authored a book on artificial intelligence with Kissinger. I asked him what it was like to collaborate with Dr. K, but he turned back inside.

Now, it was just me and the guards, the NYPD, and the diplomatic details, all of whom were getting a little sick of me but were maybe also becoming my friends. Asked who his favorite celebrity sighting of the night was, one of the library guards replied, “I’m just here to get paid.” Peeking past him, I could make out a green monogram of “HK” at the ballroom’s entrance, and the staff brought out giant glass urns in which they lit candles as the sun set over Fifth Avenue.

Another guard cut me a break and told me Blinken had entered through the service entrance. I decided to wait to see if I could catch him coming out.

Sometimes you quickly take over a show as the PSM and are told that one of your guests will be the US Ambassador to UN (AKA Obama’s right hand). Yes, I was lucky enough to work with Samantha Powers and she truly is an incredible politician, human rights activist, woman and mother. My heart goes with the people in #Aleppo, and what is happening there is heartbreaking and inhuman. However, I don't appreciate #hypocrisy. During the last several months Ambassador Samantha Power did not have courage to talk about hundreds of children and innocent people killed in #Yemen. Seems for her, Yemenis do not consider as human as she believes because it's the crime committed by #SaudiArabia. However, when comes to the U.S. backed oppositions in #Syria she does speak. Because it's America's benefits in the region we are talking about. Never ever any American government cared for humans in the history, all always mattered was what the the U.S. is going to gain by killing or not killing innocent people. And here we go, the story continues again. Yesterday, #SamanthaPower talked about children and civilians. I want to ask her to look at a mirror yourself too. You have given weapons to #Saudis, which they used them to kill children in #Yemen. You vetoed any resolution against Saudi Arabia, which is the country funds #Terrorism. You have participated killed hundreds of children in #Palestine, killing civilians in #Pakistan and #Iraq. So Miss Power, I am asking you do you feel shame at all of being a #Hypocrite?
