i feel like a lot of snowstorm fans would have been better off reading acotar instead of asoiaf. especially judging by the things they believe about jon
Can't believe in 2025 there are still people who truly ship Daenerys and Jon Snow and think they will end up together in the books, as if Daenerys doesn't represent everything Jon despises: reckless authoritarian figure that abuses her power to achieve her own means.
I think media literacy has been a popular enough topic for people to realize that Daenerys was always a villain and the reason we didn't realize it was because we only have her delulu POV's as reference for her story. If GRRM is still a good writer he will make Jon Snow recoil instantly from the moment he sets eyes on Dany arriving to subjugate his people.
being that i only really interact with asoiaf content on tumblr i honestly didn’t think jonerys was as big of a ship as it is especially with “book purists”but i’ve been dipping my toe in asoiaf twt and i swear that’s all they post over there. y’all are in for a world of disappointment if the last two books ever come out.
jonerys is definitely a ship for people who don’t actually like Jon Snow which is fine he doesn’t need to be your favourite but when they start acting like he’d ever betray Dany for the Starks or that he’d even consider choosing his Targaryen side i’m like… babe what character are you talking about? book Jon has way more back bone than show Jon and show Jon still didn’t fw her like that. people treated political!Jon like it was a theory during season 8 but it’s not a theory in the books, Jon is incredibly smart and has shown himself to be politically minded and he’s not above manipulating someone if he thinks the outcome is for the greater good.
as for choosing Dany and his Targaryen side… the minute Dany poses a threat to the Starks he’s going to stop being on her side if he ever is in the first place, and there is no side to choose, he’s a Stark, he grew up as Ned’s son, he loves him more than anything and his self esteem is basically built on the fact that Ned was such a good man and he’s his father, Rhaegar may be his biological father but he is still Ned’s son in every way that matters and Lyanna is still his mother. idk where this idea that Jon is going to turn on his siblings came from but i just have to assume y’all are reading with your fingers over your eyes.
unfortunately Daenerys and the Starks (yes all the Starks including Arya cause for some reason y’all think Arya will readily turn on Sansa for Dany as well) will be at odds because their goals will be at odds and Jon isn’t choosing Dany over his siblings.
My "what if" couples list in no particular order. I don't own any of these gifs, I just saved them from the web.
Jonsa Edition from Game of Thrones.
I knew they weren't going to happen because although they're not siblings, they did grew up thinking they were but they're first cousins which I know ideally we shouldn't be with our family but their chemistry was so insanely good even more good than Jonerys chemistry who they had zero to only a little bit. I did find myself wishing they had become canon. I do love that the actors did one movie together where they played as lovers so that was nice to see even if it wasn't Jonsa who became canon.
What is pol!Jon?
It a short form tag that stands for political jon. Essentially an explanation theorized and popularized by a number of people in asoiaf/game of thrones fandom in an attempt to explain some of the very questionable if not outright out of character choices that writer's made on game of thrones for Jon Snow in the later seasons concerning his entire storyline since encountering Daenerys.
Essentially its a theory that stands by the idea that the only way Jon's action and choices could make sense were if Jon's interactions with Daenerys and her allies were not of a genuine nature (i.e. he had no genuine loyalty, affection, love, or trust in her or her advisors/army) but rather everything he was doing and saying amounted to him "playing" the game and doing whatever was necessary to gain her help (i.e. her army and dragons) in the war against the dead, but also to keep his family members and subjects safe from Dany's wrath once he brought her north, and potentially even to maneuver/keep himself in a position where he would be close enough to take Daenerys out all together should it prove necessary to eliminate someone who had proved to be an obvious threat (i.e. before she could cause mass murder and destruction via her dragons, or attempt to greviously harm Jon himself or his "siblings"- the latter at least Jon was successful with)
I cannot believe youre a fellow poljon believer
Oh, my friend, I absolutely am. Like, I don't know what's going on in those books George won't release -- maybe nothing related to pol!jon will ever touch that world. But? In the world of the show?? There is not a single thing on this planet that anyone could say to convince me that Jon actually had any authentic feelings for that woman. I know that's the official narrative -- heard. But... I'm sorry, but I've never seen a man look more miserable around the supposed love of his life.
Every single acting choice Kit made, from the second the characters meet, says, "I am not down with this woman." And his interviews suggested the exact same conclusion. His interviews legitimately make no sense, if pol!Jon wasn't something he was operating with. Because, if he actually loves that woman (despite hating everything she stands for and looking like he wants to die, every single time they speak, INCLUDING when he's actively having sex with her) and is legitimately on her side and wanting to support her, than he isn't making any moves, being more political, or manipulating anyone 'in a kind way.' He's just a dumb man who gets completely blinded by a beautiful woman... Which is kind of lame, considering who Jon is and who we know him to be.
They filmed literal scenes where his people mock and spit at her feet and he LAUGHS. He doesn't care. He only cares that she sees him suppressing a laugh. And then stared her down the second she makes a thinly veiled threat against Sansa. Show!Jon is cooking up plans, whether the show wants to admit it or not.
