i know this sounds super rude and generalising but i really do get bad vibes from like 99% of kitty (like the shipping type) stans

you either worship them or be essentially shunned because having personal opinions is not okay now. In my experience with them, they’re also super egocentric in a sense? every announcement cc puts out has to be about kit & ty or they riot. I see analysis of teasers that has nothing related to them like TLH has to be related to TWP. And people act like they’re two characters joined to the hip because i feel fanon!kit has no personality except loving ty and vice versa

excuse my irrelevant rant but i just personally feel they’re one of the most toxics parts of the fandom 😬

They also have a weird possessiveness with Kit and Ty? I mean, I've only really seen it with Kit, but I'm sure that if it happens to Kit, it happens to Ty.

Fanon!Kit is literally the dumbest character in the world. He's just incredibly dim and a complete distortion of canon Kit. And the big reason, I'd say, is because Ty's very smart.

WhiCH leADS to TY- people just write and depict him as a really cold and controlling asshole.

Kitty as a whole, in the fandom, is very disturbing because the balance in the relationship is all off and it's very toxic. Like, Kit is, in no way, shape or form, allowed to disagree with Ty. Because Ty's so smart and a genius and Kit isn't allowed a personality other then pining after The Great Ty Blackthorn for three years when, as far as he's concerned, he'll never see Ty again 🥺

I'm not saying it doesn't happen with Ty but I've only seen it happen with Kit, mostly in fics but also in many posts.

Also, stop making Ty kiss Kit without consent 🙂

why do ppl like kitty? unpopular opinion but i've always thought of her as a racist brat, but i see ppl all around me loving her.

Ehhh she’s not my absolute favorite but she’s not my least favorite by any means. And I can’t think of any racist moments of hers off the top of my head (although, it’s Glee. I’m sure she had a few) so if I was going to make a list of the most racist characters, she’d be way under Sue, Will, Rachel, Brittany, etc.

But also I’ve said before that all people need to stan a RM character is for her to be skinny, hot, usually white and blonde, and a bitch. Kitty, Quinn, Brittany, Santana is the poc exception. Any Emma Roberts or Jessica Lange character on AHS. Literally every character on Scream Queens. I’m telling you, that’s all you need and people will fall all over themselves trying to stan

Wait what happened with fanon KitTy? I don't think I was around for this. I heard someone else call them toxic and when I asked them to explain, they said that they weren't talking about canon. What did the fandom do? just curious

Okay, well...

Fanon!Kitty is how Kit and Ty are portrayed as a relationship in the fandom. (In fics, post, fanart, ect...) This isn't necessarily for you, it's more so I can keep my ass on track kdksnx

So we're just gonna do this is sections:

Canon Kit: An intelligent, compassionate, witty son of a criminal, who gets snappy when he's put to the sidelines and can't do what he thinks is right. Knows when enough is enough and can keep a clear head. As he's living with a family now, will learn how to be independent and not solely rely on those who are around him. A very compatible person.

Fanon Kit: Is in love with Ty Blackthorn. Only person in the world who matters is Ty Blackthorn. A dumb, pretty blond boy who can't get his head out of his own ass unless it's to gawk at The Great Ty Blackthorn™. Is in love with Ty Blackthorn. A whining brat who isn't immature for even a 12 year old. Oh, also, he's in love with Ty Blackthorn :). Has an unhealthy relationship with himself and everyone around him and skips along as nothing more then an arrogant asshole. Is in love with Ty Blackthorn. Can't develop emotional or romantic connections to anyone because of Ty Blackthorn. OH! I ALMOST FORGOT: he is in love with Ty Blackthorn.

Canon Ty: An observant, kind, and thoughtful genius. Considerate of everyone and everything around him. Wants what's best for the world and the people he cares about. Will do anything for the people he loves. Sometimes to an extreme. A big ol' softie. Curious to know more about the world, but is aware he doesn't know everything.

Fanon Ty: Very cold and controlling. Emotionless. Literally Google. Cannot be an actual character when there is work to be done. Doesn't regard people as people. And he kinda likes Kit's to ig?

"Canon" Kitty (not technically canon atm): A relationship between two incredibly complex and interesting and loving, lovable characters.

Fanon Kitty: A toxic relationship where Ty is the only one who is allowed to know anything and Kit is the only one with relationship/sexual experience. Kit is obsessed with Ty and Ty also has feelings for Kit sometimes :). Also, Kit is such a fuckup in their relationship that he's always apologizing for things that don't need an apology. He respects Ty's boundaries (as he should /srs) but Ty doesn't respect his. In fics, the relationship also, creepily often, starts because Ty kisses Kit without any consent or warning. Every now and then in a fic Ty will grab Kit's face and be like "I'm going to do something" without specifying to make sure Kit's okay with it, and then Kit will be like "yes you could literally do anything to me and I'll take it because that's all I'm good for 😍😍😍".

That was honestly just off the top of my head 🤔

thank GOD someone finally said it!! i'm SO sick of the "omg he left the country because his crush rejected him he's such a herondale" jokes and the whole "how DARE he have a gf/bf" thing (when the first letter came out) because its so obvious how much the fandom idolizes ty and does not care about kit. i mean i get it, ty used to be one of my favs but the fandom just overdoes it to the point where i'm pretty sure if cc doesn't write twp exactly how they visioned (i.e. kit pining while ty gets to move on), its just gonna be a mess.

But HOLY HELL YES?? Also Kit actually didn't leave because of the "i love you", it was mainly because of the "there's nothing if you aren't there". Just for the record.

Also, Kit doesn't even act like the Herondale™ thing TSC has going on. Idk why the second he acts like a teenager (or even a person) everyone in TSC is like "ah ha yes, mh-hm. very much herondale."

Dw anon, I have faith. CC answered asks way back when QOAAD came out and talked about how neither Kit nor Ty was to blame (which I honestly don't know why that's still an argument but go off ig) and I have a good feeling that TWP will be okay at least. :D

Also, something I don't think people realize about the whole "kit's going to helplessly pine after Ty in TWP" thing is that Kit's in the role of the main character, and Ty's the love interest. And with CC books it's the love interest who's doing the pining 😶 and it would also make more sense considering Kit's whole live thing is that he doesn't think he can be loved. That's also why, if there is a love triangle, I want Kit to be in the "center" of it just because of the sad humor it would have.

Not that I really want either of them to, but it would be very satisfying considering how much I've read/seen in this fandom where Kit's only personality is 'damn im in love with ty" and ty's is "I am very important centurion and i like kit to"

i feel like i might've liked jealous!kit as a concept if not for this freaking fandom acting like it would be the end of the world if jealous!ty became a thing lmao

I totally agree, and I might have liked it too, but jealous!kit has also been done into the ground, ya know? The few fics I've read with jealous!ty were so shocking and it was a nice change 🤔

Also, I don't know if I ever saw someone show Kit- I haven't seen it happen with Ty enough to give a solid opinion- being jealous in a way that didn't make me think "good gosh get a life and just don't associate with Ty anymore if you're going to destroy your physical being over him." And like you could argue that it's a Herondale thing, but Kit really doesn't act like a Herondale and I also think it's just a problem with the YA genre in general, but that for another ask to get off topic on (◍•ᴗ•◍)

But like fanon!kitty is also so damn toxic so- 😶✋
