22. do you ever worry about public reaction to what you’re writing? how do you get past that?

not anymore lmao. not since I got a couple of (admittedly rent-free) anons/comments like 12 years ago? those of you who were not there do not understand how controversial and unpopular it was to write Dan topping. there were masterlists on phanfictioncatalogue bc you could in fact count them easily. (I’m sure there still are lists, but you get me.) so I wrote some top Dan stuff and got some feedback like ‘I would read this but I just can’t see it’ completely unprompted lmao. okay that’s nice? I think some of yall have some unchecked issues about rigid binaries, gender roles, and your perception of Phil as both a sweet infantilized cinnamon roll AND a daddy dom top?

one fic i wrote contained about 2 sentences describing them using a condom and then I got an anon saying I was implying they have STIs and that’s not very nice of me.

so yeah. idgaf anymore. this is all a skill issue. use your brains or keep scrolling. I don’t write anything nearly controversial enough to warrant worrying. my biggest fear is just that people don’t like something as much as I do.
