ANTI-CANCER ACTIVITY OF Ganoderma lucidum MYCELIUM ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT AGAINST BREAST CANCER CELLS | UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY
Ganoderma lucidium (Reishi) is a type of mushroom that belongs to the Ganodermataceae family, sometimes known as "Spirit Plant." Since ancient times, Ganoderma lucidium has been used to cure a variety of ailments. Modern scientific investigations have also established that Ganoderma lucidium possesses a variety of therapeutic qualities, including anti-glycemic, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties, among others. This study investigates the anticancer properties of Ganoderma lucidium extract utilising an invivo technique with MCF-7 and vero cell lines. In comparison to the control, G.Lucidum mycelium extract had a substantial effect on the MCF-7 cell line at concentrations ranging from 100g/ml to 50g/ml. G. Lucidum mycelium extract has a strong cytotoxicity against the MCF-7 cell line at a concentration of 100 g/ml, and the IC50 values for G. Lucidum mycelium extract on the MCF-7 cell line were 21.48 g/ml. As a result, we were able to show that G. Lucidum mycelium extract could be a selective anti-cancer drug with higher inhibition of a human breast cancer cell line and weak activity in normal cells.
