Social Media Marketing
Social Media Marketing
When you have your own business marketing is a key point to your success. As the times change so does technology, forcing you to keep up with the new changing ways to market your business. Before taking this class I thought that I had a good grasp on how to use social media to market, but I learned a lot of valuable techniques that I had not thought of before. A key lesson that I learned was though Simon Sinek’s TED talk “How Great Leaders Increase Action”. He talks about the three layers to getting your message across to the customer: What, How, and Why. He talks about how every business can tell you what they sell and how they sell it but it is the order in which you tell them about it that matters; while including the why. The why in this system is very important, you are telling your customer why you do what you do, that is the heart of your business and will tell customers why you are better than the competition. While using this system you should try to get across your values and your specialties. It is also important to use a focus group or a brainstorm to figure out new and exciting ways to keep your customers interested and active in their experience of your sites through the content that you post. An example that was used was a wine club, they can really think outside the box and add more content to their page by posting about good cheese to pair, wine glasses, festivals, etc.
Another tool that I learned about is how to use all your social media in sync with one another. If you have a website always have links to your other social media accounts, allowing the customer to keep up with all your content. For example if you have a new video post up on your blog, you can post a link in a Facebook post that will take you to the blog. Another thing to consider is what social media outlets will get the most views by the customer you have; Facebook might be a better outlet than Instagram. While using these different outlets consider having a consistent theme through out to give a good feel to your sites. On these sites you also need to think about if you are optimizing your marketing. Only use credible sites, user-friendly sites, sites that give customer feedback, and make sure that you are investing your money wisely when doing so.
Overall I think that this class was extremely beneficial. I learned new techniques that will intrigue the customer, and made me think outside the box.
I also learned about the WHY in making your business successful, which is very important. I think that this class paired really well with my social media class that I am taking online.
