So basically I went to this girls house to drop off holiday/new year’s presents and her mom invited me in. Apparently they were doing some small family friend party and I went to put my stuff in my room and tell my mom I was staying over for a bit. I left my phone upstairs and came back down to little kids running around with fucking guns. My ONE republican friend who I’ve tried to get past it cuz politics shouldn’t have to get in the way of friendships reaaaally fucked up. She didn’t tell me it was a fucking gun cleaning party. There were five year olds with guns and alcohol like what the ever loving fuck. Then, her mom gave me a whole baguette. She said it’s cuz she knew I didn’t eat too much meat which is really sweet, but the I felt obligated to eat the whole thing. I stress ate it because it felt rude to go upstairs and text my mom to come get me. The only reason I left was because after two hours my mom had to pick me up so I could babysit. So anyway apparently pleasing ppl is more important to me than my own damn safety. Thanks for coming to my ted talk..lol.

Why Allura's Death Was Unsatisfying

You know, I think the reason Allura's death was so unsatisfying was that there was no buildup or closure to it.

I've been thinking about. Major character death isn't new to audiences, and it can be done well. It's sad, yes, and not wanted by most means, but it's possible to have it written in a way where it not only

makes sense, but

delivers closure to both the character and the story

So how do stories do this? I've found the biggest way is through buildup.

We as the audience already know, or at the very least have a feeling, that this character is going to die. Maybe they are destined to die by prophecy, or have some sort of illness that has no cure. Whatever it is, we have the suspicion that this character might not make it to the end.

Another thing is that when a character dies, it serves to wrap their character development and personal arcs. They have grown to be the most ideal version of themselves within the confines of the show, and now they're moving on.

This is satisfying to the audience. It makes sense.

Allura's death has neither of these things.

There was no buildup to her death. For a majority of the show, fans expected Voltron to end with all of the seven main characters alive, because there was no need to expect otherwise. The writers did not give us a sign that someone might possibly sure. So when Allura dies at the end of the show, it's sudden, and it feels almost abrupt in a way.

It didn't wrap up her character arc. Now there's a lot of controversy on whether or not characters even acted remotely like themselves in Season 8, and I'm not going to get into that. It was clear though, that Allura still had a lot growing and learning to do, what we were meant to interpret after the show's ending. She also never really got the chance to be a leader or avenge her nation the way she wanted to. Sure, she defeated the Galra Empire, but she still needed to rebuild Altean civilization and fix what the Galra had destroyed for the entire universe. She doesn't get to do any of that.

In conclusion, Allura would have been better off as a character had she not died, OR, they should have written Allura's arc differently in a way that it would make sense for her to die. She simply had too much to look forward to after the events of the show that nothing of her personal arc got tied up with her death.

Free my poor girl she did nothing wrong.

an, I think, underdiscussed issue with AI...

...and anyone can tell me that I don't know wtf I'm talking about, because truly, maybe I don't. But here goes.

AI sources from what's already on the internet (yes, many ethical issues of course there). What I don't see people talking about as much is the fact that as more people use what is sourced, they're creating less. So more repurposing of what's already been made, less original work.

....are we going to get to a point where we've already made what humanity has to make? Are we getting done with creativity, innovative ideas, wholly fresh and daring thought? The classics of the world...is that what we're going to have to work with?

I feel like story, metaphor, and original creation is what makes us human...so the thought of all that scares me.

You know, tbh, I kind of feel like just about every single actress that I wouldn't mind seeing Austin with is unfortunately already currently taken/dating someone else right now lol. 😂 So I'm not really sure Anon!

Rather than some strict parameter and direct name of an actress who I would want Austin to date, I will rather say that I'd just love for Austin to date someone:

Who's kind

Genuine

Kind to fans

Respects him and the relationship (no flirting or kissing other guys or girls while in a relationship with him 😵‍💫)

Who's private and not an attention-seeker

Who's down to earth

Sweet

If she's in the ET business she won't talk badly about Austin or try to make him look bad in the media if they ever break up

Classy and respectful

I want him with a woman who he genuinely feels 100% comfortable with, who he feels is his best friend, and who he can tell anything to 🥹

If she's not in the business, then hopefully someone who will respect Austin's privacy and won't be spilling their business and his business to friends, family, or the media

Someone who's fine with letting him shine, but also has her own career or life going on so she's not a cling-on, overly needy, or pick-me girlfriend 👀

Someone confident and secure with herself, because Austin has lots of female fans who love him, and she needs to be able to understand that he will have women gushing over him (I mean, just look at him lol), and he will be working with beautiful female costars in his future films. His future gf needs to be able to be okay with that, and not get jealous easily, or be insecure, or throw his female costars under the bus just because he's working with them 👀

She also needs to be able to understand that Austin gets super focused on work when he's involved in filming. He gives 110% to what he does, and he has a very busy with schedule and a very strong work ethic. She needs to be comfortable wth him working and being obsessed (cuz we all know our man can get obsessed lol 😆) and being away for months at a time working on set. She has to be understanding of that, and trust him when he's away (and of course, he has to be trustworthy)

Lastly, I just want Austin with someone who truly loves him, and who he truly and genuinely loves as well 💓 He seems like he loves very hard when he truly does fall for someone. I want him to find that type of love again, because I do not think he had that with his last relationship 👀

That's my list! Lol 😆 It's lengthy, I know, but I feel like it's based on things that really truly matter in a relationship.

The latter bullet points are why I (personally) feel that Austin would do better with an older woman, or, at least a woman over the age of 27.

Not only does he seem to vibe with older women very well, but a woman who is older and more mature usually already has her own thing going, so she's not going to be a cling-on, and she is usually more sure of herself, secure in who she is, and confident (which he seems to love in women btw) so she won't be as insecure as say a younger woman.

She also probably wouldn't worry about him working as much because she already has her own life and she's not worried about minutiae like she was in her 20s.

I keep saying that Austin should date a woman in her 30s imo 😏 Women in their 20s are fine too, but I feel like he would find more of what he's looking for in a woman in her 30s, and I think he would have a deeper connection (which he craves) with an older woman as well. Austin is a very deep person, and he seems to genuinely crave depth and not the superficial surface-level things. I think a woman in her 30s would be perfect for that.

Idk why, but that's just what I feel in my gut. He needs to date a woman in her 30s.

Whether he will or not is up to him. It's not my choice, it's his. I'm just afraid that he might run into the same immature nonsense that he had with his last relationship if he dates another woman in her early 20s again. 🥴

He didn't seem happy in that relationship at all.

And honestly, the happiest he's looked in a relationship so far was with a woman older than him.
