What are your must-have mods for historical gameplay?

Happy to help try to list out what I use! Some of these are obviously historical, some just help me with my game! This might have gotten a little long, but I tried to include all the mods I feel like I need to happily play in a historic save file. I've included some overrides here as well.

MC Command Center by @deaderpoolmc

Allows for setting changes to support a more historic style of playthrough, and just so much more control over your game.

T.O.O.L. by @twistedmexi

Great for moving debug objects to cover obviously modern items outside the lot, and an absolute must have for posing.

UI Cheats by Weerbesu

Lets you cheat by simpling right clicking on the UI, great for custom historic careers, money management, really everything!

Better Exceptions by @twistedmexi

Helps you locate cc sims are wearing and just keeps an eye on your game heath.

Timeless by @pandorasimbox

Hides modern world objects from your save, amazing for making world appearance much more suitable for historical play.

No Autonomous Anything by @claudiasharon

Includes no autonomous phone, no autonomous pc use, no auto grabbing drinks or food, and no auto cleaning. You can choose which ones work for you best, I have everything but no auto cleaning.

Phone Call Overhaul by @lotharihoe

Reworks the call system, especially great that you can delay invitations, makes it feel more like letter exchanges.

Hat Control Slider by ICONIC

Allows you to adjust where eligible hats sit on the sims head, perfect for those big historic hairs and hats.

Remove Hats & More Indoors by @mizoreyukii

Works similarly to the Snowy Escape not allowing shoes indoor, sims will remove hats and gloves when they come indoors. Great for letting sims have historic outfits without looking silly indoors.

Broom Instead of Mop by @xbrilliantsims

Override for the in-game mop to the broom so your historical sims aren't mopping puddles with that yellow and plastic monstrosity.

Pregnancy Overhaul by @littlemssam

Allows your pregnant sims to do more while they're pregnant. Also offers some more realistic options for mortality.

No ZZZ and No Music Note by Krys29 (MTS)

Gets rid of the zzz's and music notes, makes my screenshots better.

Bust The Dust Overhaul by @lotharihoe

Gets rid of the dust bunnies and clean floor sparkles from the bust the dust kit.

Functional Broom by @mizoreyukii

Works like a vacuum for bust the dust, or available as a BG option to have your sims sweep up.

Neutral Knitting Override by @pandorasimbox

Overrides the bright knitted swatch while your sims are knitting for a more neutral color.

Dog Leash Override by @magnolianfarewell

Overrides the plastic retractable leash used for dogs on walks with a simple leather lead.

Gosh sorry if this got too long, but this is most of the mods I use or have used in the past. There's some really great ones out there! I hope this is helpful!!

🌑 - what does your character think is their biggest flaw?

Hattie is still a bit new to this story so this is a fun moment to get to dive into her a bit more! I think she would consider he biggest flaw to be her lack of education. She grew up in a very backwoods area in pretty extreme poverty with a whole jumble of siblings and has had very little education. For someone who has dreams and aspirations of bettering themselves and seeing more of the world, that's a sore spot.

🕰 - what made you pick your character's career? how was it influenced by the time period they live in?

I feel like asking this question just like implies you know I thought about this so hard. Will's future career was something I agonized over for a long time and went back and forth on a lot. He had multiple options which now that I've developed this one all feel SO odd to think about. I didn't want him to be a farmer, I couldn't do a second gen of that, but as many of you know realism is important to me! Will didn't get more than an eighth grade education, which wasn't uncommon at the top, but did realistically limit him from a lot of potential careers (especially careers that equate to sims careers, we need more blue color rep ea pls). As I was determining his career I was thinking about this period in time and what was a way that a man without much education could make his own way and have some opportunity for advancement. Mechanics, and specifically automobile, mechanics really stuck out to me as a great way to showcase the changing of the times but remain true to Will's experiences. And since it was a growing industry it seemed like it would be easier for a newcomer to make his way. I also wanted to showcase the shift from agrarian to industrial jobs that was rampant at this time.

👀 - what is the first thing stranger's would notice about your character?

Gosh this is hard!! I think a couple of things honestly, I think they would notice his height, in my mind he's over six feet and isn't a super lanky dude either, so he's got a presence. I think after that they'd notice his smile, he's such a sweet guy and honestly his in game smile is just very like inviting and sweet. Like it's a smile that says I am genuinely happy and I think in some ways that's rare? He's not dumb so I hesitate to use the words gentle giant, but in some ways I think he has some of those traits typified by that term so those are the two things people would notice.

Do you know of any factory builds that aren’t just repurposed bars, cafes or residential lots? I’m looking for a lot I can use as a factory so I can have some clubs collecting or making things to sell at retail lots (or use as a built-in store).

I don't know of any of the top of my head, my thought would be to search the gallery by the #moonwoodmill or #werewolves tags since that world/pack had such an industrial vibe.

However I did ask my friends and one (the lovely @aheathen-conceivably ) recommended this shell that James Turner made, they suggested also potentially searching for that shell challenge to find other similar builds. Honestly I never watch simstube so I am out of my element with this one ahaha.

Otherwise if any of my other followers have any recommendations please feel free to drop them in the comments!

I know I've said it before but I've just been so busy I've barely even opened my game up in the past three months.

I hope I'll have time soon but I'm really not promising anything because it's about to be summer and I want to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.

Hey, I saw that you find lost/broken cc links and I've been struggling to find a working link to the Segersims Annie country dress and hat for children and toddlers. I've been trying to find a working link for genuinely a couple of years now and the one on their website has never worked for me. It leads to a buggy, ad- and virus-riddled page.

I took a look and you're right, that download link is actually unsafe. I'm going to upload to my simfileshare because we should all be able to access this stuff.

I only have the two outfit files and the toddler hat file, I'm uploading all three. I have never gotten the toddler hat to work, I think it might have a mesh requirement I'm unaware of, if anyone knows what it is, let me know and I'll link it here. Also, if anyone has the child hat file and wants to send it to me I'll happily add it to the upload.

If the creator sees this and would like me to take them down, I will, as long as they provide a safe link (it can be monetized, but cannot be unsafe).

Hi! Maybe it's a silly question, but I just wondered if you have played around with the "For Rent" pack in a historical way? Like making servants quarters in a mansion for a rich family?

It's not a silly question at all! I'm sure a lot of people have been wondering if I'd do something with this pack because it's right up my alley!

I have played with it a teensy bit, but it was bugging out with one of my mods so I moved onto doing some cc free building and haven't come back around to residential rentals. Which isn't to say I don't want to, I really do but I got distracted with my little cottage. To start I've been wanting to update some of my older builds that are kind of already intended to have multiple units.

I think "Seafret Watch" which is included with Antiquated Brindleton, probably meets your question the most, as it's a mansion with servants quarters. It's available on my gallery (antiqueplumbobs) and has cc included. If I change it to a residential rental I'd probably release as cc free so that might take a little time. But I'd probably like to because it's a great build honestly. Other builds on my radar are "The Gilded Hotel" (also antiquated brindleton) or my apartment building. Though when I got into that one I wanted to totally revamp it so it might be a while on the tenaments.

I'm currently playing around with making Edwardian Promenade into a residential rental. But this should all come with a huge disclaimer that my sims interests have been a bit mercurial of late, so I can't really promise anything these days.

I'm in a building mood currently, so we'll see how long that lasts and what we can get out of it!
