For anyone who believe Mao to be Inuyasha 2.0 and have their doubts because of Trashahime: DO NOT WORRY!

Mao's plot does involve a girl traveling to a past period and meeting a sword user like Inuyasha, and there might be some other things that could remind you of Inuyasha, yet it differs in lots of ways. I won't spoil the story but I’ll reveal 4 traits that make it differ from Inuyasha that I believe are safe to reveal:

1. ⁠While Inuyasha’s group is of 6 characters always traveling together, Mao’s group is of only 3 which in fact is like Rinne's group of Kyoukai no Rinne (a boy not rude running an honest business with his little servant and a female companion), and their allies appear on and then.

And fun fact: Mao debuts on April 4th, which is the same day the anime of Kyoukai no Rinne debuted 11 years ago.

2. It features demons, yet most of the major characters are humans. There are between 20 and 30 significant characters so far, and only 3 of them are demons, and some are similar to the Black Cats of Kyoukai no Rinne.

3. Unlike the mystery of Inuyasha and Kikyo's tragic past which was quickly uncovered, the pieces of the puzzle of the past in Mao are slowly coming together and even after more than 300 chapters, not everything has been uncovered. In other words, unlike Inuyasha and all of her other long series' in which she had *no* clue where she was going and no idea how or where or when she'd end them, Rumiko Takahashi has a direction and a basic ending in mind that she wants to reach.

4. In Inuyasha, despite regularly coming across Inuyasha’s group and Naraku and some of his incarnations, Kikyo, Sesshomaru and Koga rarely crossed paths (Sesshomaru and Koga in fact never cross paths in the manga (ep99 was a filler episode)). In Mao, the handling of the major characters crossing paths seems better.

If anyone were to still consider it Inuyasha 2.0, I'd say Mao is an improved Inuyasha. And unlike Yashahime, which I consider to be an amateurish what if full of recycled stuff from Inuyasha and also Sailor Moon, Mao is a masterpiece like all of Rumiko Takahashi's handy works. I highly recommend it. As much as I hate that Sunrise got their hands on it, Mao deserves to be more popular so either give it a chance watching it in anime or reading the manga.

I’ve read Mao until its latest chapter, and there’s absolutely no chance of a Sessrin like ship to happen, thankfully.

Rumiko Takahashi NEVER said that Yashahime/Sessrin are canon, Sessrinners are living in their own delusion as usual because litterally every canon source tells otherwise but of course they prefer to ignore this truth. Rumiko, after Yashahime was out clearly stated that Sess is Rin's "hogosha" aka guardian/parental figure and in her recent interview also clearly stated that her series, ALL OF THEM, are over. She never acknowledged Yashahime as Inuyasha's canon sequel, we were never told by whoever to consider Yashahime part of the Inuyasha canonical storyline as if Rumiko herself wrote it unlike J.K.Rowling did with the Curse of the Heir that unfortunately is canon. On the contrary, on the Yashahime OFFICIAL WEBSITE is clearly stated that Yashahime is nothing more than Sumisawa's au scenario. Even the author of the YH manga adaption explained on a Twitter post that his work is merely his PERSONAL INTERPRETATION of Yashahime. So basically it's a doujinshi inspired to a fanfiction. These Sessrin pedos stupidly believe that given that Rumiko approved these works means that they're magically turned canon, but just so you know she needs to approve everything related to Inuyasha because of legal rights. She also approved the movies and the drama cds (remember the Inukik one?) but this stuff is never canon and never will be. Toriyama also had to approve Dragon Ball GT but it's still not canon. The day Rumiko will wake up and publicly announce we're supposed to consider the YH series and manga as canon then it's gonna be set in stone, but canonical sources tell otherwise and contraddicting themselves now would embarass and make them look like clowns who're not able to make up their minds. So no, not gonna happen. Not now not ever, sorry. Also, Rumiko never remotely hinted in her CANON story that Sesshomaru and Rin would be lovers, nor that Sess's feelings for her were remotely romantic when he showed to care for her. On the contrary, she always called out pedophilic behaviors in her story, when Miroku asked that 11 yo girl to birth his kids, all the other characters were disgusted as it should be. And Rin had exactly the same age when Pedomaru proposed to her in that disgusting drama cd that again, wasn't from Rumiko but from Sunrise.

So... nice try pedos, but no, your garbage pedo ship will NEVER BE CANON. You can cry as much as you want, just enjoy your fanfiction/doujinshi crumbs and go back to the sewer were pedos like you belong 🤷‍♀️😘

Also, even if it's not canon I dunno why they can get so up in arms "Like really? That's gonna stop you from shipping your THING? That is not canon. You gonna die because of that?" If we go by Anastasia's source, (*a person who worked animating some parts of HnY*) and that first leak— it's implied they were more "mom" options on the table and that when present with the idea of "Rin" mostly everyone on the meeting rejected it except ofc you know whos that kept pushing the idea (and we know that backfired). So, let's say it was Kikyo, or Kagura, or Sara Asano, or even Kagome, or EVEN some random woman.

It would still have been non-canon... 🤷🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️

I tagged this with anti tags, if you want us out of your tags then stay out of ours. You also forget that Richard Ian Cox, Inuyasha himself, is an anti, or did you not notice him on your 10k block list? Secondly, I’m not infantilizing short women. My own mother is short, and she looked like an adult when she was one, and a teenager when she was one. Lastly, did you not read the part about her being 18 was a retcon from Sunrise? They have made Twitter and now Tumblr accounts to do so and have posted their picture, their mother and grandmothers pictures, their name and location, and have even used their mothers photo on porn sites... Because my friend is against a ship and a horribly written show.

I think what most astounds me about Sessrinners is that they can be so intellectually obtuse as to bend over backwards to deny what is by all intents and purposes - textbook grooming.

Let’s recap what we know about Sessrin and their relationship shall we?

Rin is:

A: a completely defenseless, all alone in the world orphaned child who’s suffered severe trauma at the hands of humans and has experienced little in the way of actually genuine kindness.

B: She meets this adult man of awe-inspiring strength who’s the first person in a long time who took an interest in her well-being and not only revived her but also brought her along to protect and clothe her.

C. So grateful is she towards Sesshomaru’s acts of kindness towards her that she treats him with the utmost reverence and respect, obeying his every command while even needing to be told by him when it’s okay to move again. In her eyes he is a God who can do no wrong, he is her savior and she is his servant to whom she feels eternally indebted to and he is now the strongest point of authority in her life.

D. Despite all this canon makes clear that she was NEVER ONCE romantically interested in him, she didn’t even have so much as a crush like Sessrinners always like to claim. If she did she wouldn’t have hardcore shipped him with Kagura and tried to get them together, instead she would’ve been jealous. Lack of jealousy and being excited over the prospect of Sesshomaru with another woman is clear demonstration of a lack of romantic interest on her part, unless Rin is polyamorous, which I very much doubt considering this is a Rumiko Takahashi franchise At most she viewed him as just a friend if not an outright father/older-brother figure. Sessrinners will give the excuse “BuT sHe wAS JuSt tOo yoUNg tO dEvEloP tHoSe KiNdS oF FeeLINGS~” 🤪 In a series where even a little kid like Shippo is able to get crushes? No. And if she was old enough to pick up on Kagura’s feelings when even Jaken couldn’t, why pray tell wouldn’t she know her own? Face it Raisins, your “QUEEN~” is just not that into him.

So knowing all this how in the ever lasting hell did Sesshomaru manage to get Rin to agree to marry him and bear his children if she never had more than platonic feelings towards him?

Well now let’s recount from Sesshomaru’s side:

Sesshomaru is:

A: 11-12 years older than Rin in human years and has been in her life since she was 7-8 and he 19, effectively watching her grow up.

B: Whether you interpret him as her father figure, master, or even just her babysitter, the fact of the matter is that he did raise her, at least for a time. Even after that he still continues to make all the important decisions in her life even down to choosing her next permanent caretaker

C: Is the only one Rin has left in this world, without him she’s shit out of luck!

What we know from how their “courtship” developed from the end of the Final Act:

A: Sesshomaru kept stopping by to bring her gifts, remaining a prominent influence in her life during her journey into puberty.

B: According to Raisins themselves the Drama CD is apparently “canon” so this means Sesshomaru was already putting the idea of marriage into Rin’s mind when she was only 11!

C: Even in marriage Rin still refers to him as “sama” and has such “complete faith him” that she even allows him to kidnap her just birthed newborns without even as so much as an acknowledgement (oh but he had enough time to say a few words to Kagome and Sango but not his own damn wife who just went through childbirth? Give me a break!)This is literally all textbook grooming, Sessrinners can miss me with that shit about it all being “Rin’s choice!” Even if you want to discount the fact that she’s a child and so literally can’t consent, just the fact that she automatically regulated Sesshomaru to the “friendzone” and was never into him that way should be proof enough that marrying him really wasn’t her “choice” after all. She married him because she felt she literally had no choice.

D: He literally uses grooming like language like “That is why it is fine for things to remain as they are for now. We have plenty of time, you can examine your heart at your own pace.”

You know what's sad? I actually actually hope Rin dies in this series and stays dead. Not because I hate her, quite the opposite actually.I love Rin I am a huge Rin stan. I think she's an adorable little girl and who had such potential and wanted for her the happiest of futures. When I heard that there was a generation 2 of Inuyasha coming out I was so excited to see who Rin grew up to be.

I had always thought she would be Kagome's apprentice, who specializes in healing, both human and demon, thanks to her bonds with Kaede and Sesshomaru. Kaede is how she will learn about healing humans and her bond with sesshomaru would give her the drive to learn how to heal demons. With her own fighting style that was a mix of demon slayer fighting from Sango and Kohaku and archery/holy fighting from Kagome & Miroku. Just incase she needed to defend herself.

KohRin is also my flag ship and I had always had it in my mind that she would marry Kohaku, have like three kids, with Grandpamaru comming to visit. But I was also happy if she didn't fall in love and stayed a single pringle as well and have awesome adventures.

There was sooo much she could have become and I was ecstatic to see what they had done with her.

But then Yashahime came out and when I saw that she had become the bride of Sesshomaru, had his twins, then was cast asside like a broken doll having accomplished nothing but being a baby factory. Made me cry.

Everything that she could have become. All the stories they could have made with her in them. All the potential she had... completely flushed down the toilet. Seeing her sleeping with in the tree with nothing but having babies. Was the worst thing to have been done to her. No one loves or even cares that she is even gone. Some don't even remember that she even exsisted. The only reminder of her presence is her and Sesshomaru's daughters. That from the what I had seen of the anime,Sesshomaru didn't even care about.

Rin was distroyed. True they have made a season two that from what I have seen here on tumbler had given her the smallest of personalities but she was instantly cursed to die and thrown into the tree seven days after giving birth. ((A curse that if her love with Sesshomaru was actually real would have never happened in the first place. For the true OG sesshomaru would have never have let Zero live if she had so much as even thought about hurting his loved one. He would have taken her head from her shoulders before she even had the chance to curse Rin.))

They have taken everything from her. She is the most tragic character in this whole series. A little girl who lost her parents to bandits. Lost her life to wolves. Then was cursed to continuously die and revive by the hands of demons. Her only biological family torn from her side before she even had the chance to hold them. A husband who can care less about if she's alive or dead and a future that holds nothing for her but being a perfect subservient wife and brood mother. Her chance to be a doctor, a demon slayer a priestess. Ripped from her before she even had the chance to lose all of her baby teeth.

I hope Rin dies in this anime so that she can finally be released from the curse that is her life and giving the chance to reincarnate like Kikiyo did and live a life that she deserves. One were she's happy, loved and can become the Queen she deserves to be.

But..I know that won't happen. Sunrise will find a way to keep her alive and she will wake up from her cursed slumber and instantly be the airheaded, subservient wife that forgives everything that happened and only wants to love her lord. Be at his beck and call ready to bare him a new hord of Hanyo children with a smile. For that's all she is good for. Untill the next Yokai comes along and tries to kill her once more.
