That art is so cute but why Richland center of all places djdksksksk
I have a reason for this!! Lol.
First, here’s a link to said art. It’s just a little sketch of a (yet) unwritten future for Arthur and Mary Beth, per my fix-it fic called The Lily Farm. In the story, they fantasize about escaping the outlaw life up to western Wisconsin, where word has it there are actual lily farms and peony farms rolling among the strange, fertile farmland of the Driftless Area. The Driftless Area is a geological anomaly in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin--its terrain is beautiful and unique, because it escaped glaciation during the last ice age. It’s also great for fly fishing lol. My husband and I have traveled there just for that purpose.
BUT anyway that’s not why I ultimately chose Richland Center. I was born in eastern Wisconsin, and my maternal great-grandparents were Norwegian immigrants and dairy farmers who lived in Richland Center. People don’t know much about it, and it’s certainly backwater, even for Wisconsin, but at the turn of the 20th century, it was actually a great and historical place. It was the hometown of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who would have only been four years younger than Arthur at the time (I picture them hanging out at the local tavern, lol). It was also a central hub for the women’s suffrage movement, and Susan B. Anthony even visited the little city in 1886. This, plus railroad construction, which connected the city to many other bigger, nearby cities (like Chicago and Milwaukee), would have certainly drawn folks to the area in the late 1800s.
Anyway, I know it seems random, but it actually was anything but random lol, strangely enough. Thank you for asking!! <3
I realize u probably wanted these inboxed... so haley and manny Vargas ✌
YES I LOVE MANNY. Here’s 2 because I love Manny.
1.
“Alright, next question: favorite place you’ve ever been to?”
“Shit Vargas, I’ve been a lot of places.”
[laughs] “I know, you couriers go everywhere.”
“I guess…Zion Canyon was beautiful, real quiet, peaceful. But I missed cities and roads by the end of it, would have killed for some city lights.”
“Wow, you’ve been to Zion Canyon? You’ve been everywhere, haven’t you?”
[laughs] “Well, not everywhere.”
“It’s still impressive Haley.”
“T-thanks. Um..favorite place… Christ, I guess–I don’t know– there’s this old prewar campground by Lake Golf. There’s just something about it, especially just before sundown– sun hits the water just right and it almost sparkles. The water’s not irradiated so you can sit on the docks and swim if you want–once you kill the lake lurks of course–but it just seems…” [pause] “I don’t know it just seems like it’s it’s own place. Just a little piece of something beautiful.”
“We should go there together sometime.”
[silence] “I-I’d like that.”
2.
Manny touches him like Haley’s a thing he doesn’t want to break, kisses him so earnestly. They’re at Manny’s place now, sitting on the couch and Manny has pulled Haley into his lap.
“This isn’t moving too fast is it?” Manny says into Haley’s shoulder. Noone has ever bothered to ask Haley that.
“No,” Haley says.
Haley expects things to escalate but they don’t, Manny seems more content with making out, rubbing the jut of Haley’s hips with his thumbs and sliding his hands further up Haley’s shirt.
“You’re trim,” Manny says appreciatively, tracing fingers up Haley’s stomach and ribs. Haley is used to guys bending him over desks, calling him filthy things—this seems so innocuous in comparison and he doesn’t even know how to respond.
So I hope this means.... we will👀👀👀get some more👀👀👀 Javier art 👀👀👀👀 from u
of course!!! esp since i’m listening to gabriel sloyer’s version of Old Town Road on repeat...
Mr. Marston, how did you get that scar on your upper lip?
Cut myself shaving.
I’m joking. It was mostly from being attacked by a bear when I was a teenager. Some of it is also from a bar fight I was in once, when a man smashed a bottle on my face.
