My current non-ballistic casual night vision helmet setup - I previously had a BGS Sumpftarn Cover from Kruschiki Supply Co. on this setup, but I wasn't pleased with the fit, plus I'm gonna be redoing the velcro on that one anyways.

I'm quite fond of these FS Hybrid Covers - the mesh panels allow the helmet to ventilate through its holes without letting sticks, bugs, and debris into them and the stretch fabric portions give it a nice, conformal fit. When buying for a non-ballistic shell, you have to buy them a size under, and while it doesn't fit perfectly, it definitely fits better than the last cover.

My one complaint is that they could use some external cable routing, but that's something I can easily add later with gutted paracord and my bartacking machine. But for right now, it works well enough just routing cables under the cover.

I used to run a Streamlight Sidewinder Stalk on this build, but I've loaned that to @mou1age's ballistic setup while I minmax with an old Inforce WML. Very 2010's, love the simplicity of this thing. Crude but effective flood/'umbrella' light.

I don't have any comms/earpro on this build (yet) because unfortunately my mutant-size head doesn't play well with standard Peltor ARC Rail Mounts.

Eventually, I wanna try and get some Otto Noizebarrier Side Arms with the Gibbous Outfitters Comtac Adapters, since those seem to have very good reviews and it would allow me to bypass the issue of low ear clearance without having to reinvest in a different helmet with a higher cut.

If I were to change out any other thing on this so far, it'd probably be ditching the Ops-Core OCC Dial Suspension for another Team Wendy Cam-Fit, but then I'd also have to change out the pads, and I don't feel like investing $300 just to marginally improve the chinstrap comfort (at least not yet! :D)

Obviously, the PMC Boykisser Group patch is a joke and I don't go out in public wearing that lol :V

Enhanced Base Block for Adams Industries Surface ANVIS Mount and Fixed Low-Profile Shroud Assembly

One of the biggest issues I have with the AI/SAM is the angle of the surface for the shroud interface plate - because of the steeper depression, the mount is tilted far too high, forcing me to harshly adjust the pod tilt on my goggles.

I've reverse-engineered the base block of the AI/SAM and given it a shallower 68-degree angle over the original 72; this should put the ball detent bracket parallel with the rim of the helmet and save me from needing to tilt the goggles down so much.

Additionally, I've also changed the geometry so as to accommodate a custom sheet metal shroud assembly - I see no reason to have a quick-detachable interface on my goggle mount when the ANVIS ball detent system is inherently its own quick-detach.

The legs of the shroud are designed similar to a Wilcox L2 and will be bent to match the contours of the helmet's shell.

Work in progress update on the Ops Core FAST project:

With the Natural Gear Camo dip applied, i went ahead and dressed it up with CAG (Ranger Green) Velcro.

The MS2000 Strobe is entirely redundant given the integral strobes on the PVS31 Battery Pack (which still needs an adapter cable), but I put it in there for now cause it looked cool.

I was originally anticipating keeping this as an ARC rail setup, but I thought the finish and the velcro looked so nice that I couldn't bring myself to break it up. I have an Invisio X50 that I need to get more use out of anywho.

Anything I plan on adding at this stage aside from the missing power cable is a Princeton Tec MPLS. I like the look of their clip-on helmet mounts.

Seeing as the shell no longer needs to clear a pair of Comtacs, I also replaced the crown pads with an Oregon Aero so the shell sits lower on my head and more comfortably to boot.

Wilcox P/N 56500G02 AN/AVS-6,-9 NVG Mount

An oldschool ground-ruggedized ANVIS-specific NVG mount that predates the venerable GSGM/DPAM

I bought this one to be my personal NVG mount and thought I'd give my first impressions on all the little quirks it has:

The mount sadly does not feature a LEMO downlead for a standard ANVIS battery pack; this mount runs off a single CR123A battery in a removable, slide-out tray. There is an alternate LEMO cable adapter, but I don't have it. As such, I'll need to get myself a counterweight for any helmets I use it on.

In order to flip the goggles up, two buttons on either side of the mount need to be depressed simultaneously, but they are at least in a very convenient position over standard ANVIS mounts

Most of all, the shroud locking interface on the back is semi-integral to the mount - you aren't really meant to use this mount on anything other than Norotos-style mount geometry. However, it does work surprisingly well with AWS 2-Hole Shrouds.

Technically they are compatible with the current-day Wilcox G24 rail interface, but you need to undo two tiny hex screws on top of the mount in order to remove the default locking plate:
