A rare cassette tape for the music and songs of the movie “Fangs - Anyaab”.
“Anyaab” (1981) is a horror/musical movie. This is the only movie in the history of Egyptian cinema in this category. Written and directed by Mohamed Shebl (1949 - 1996). The story is about a newly-engaged couple (Ali and Mona) who have a car breakdown on their way to a party. They head to the nearest house to make an emergency call, only to find out that they are at Dracula's house. The movie became more interesting when Shebl chose Ahmed Adaweyah - the iconic folk singer - to play Duracla's role.
Shebl got inspired by the American movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975). Which is the story is about a newly-engaged couple who have a car breakdown in an isolated area. They seek shelter at the bizarre house of Dr. Frank-n-Furter.
The similarity between the two stories is obvious. Shebl was also affected by the artistic vision, such as the calligraphy and the art direction. So, he made a tribute to “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” where Dracula's brother wears a T-shirt with the movie poster. This was the first movie in which the singer Talaat Zein was represented as an actor. He played Dracula's brother's role.
The artist brothers Hussein and Mody Al-Imam are the ones who composed the music for the movie and most of the songs. They appeared in a short scene at the end of the movie. While their father Hassan Al-Imam (1919-1988) played the narrator role. Al-Imam is known as one of the great Egyptian directors.
