After work, Wheatley liked to walk over to a little shop near his flat to calm him down after hours of stress and sometimes being snapped at and yelled at by his boss. Just the sweet smell of the sweets they made and the soothing aroma of coffee and tea in the air calmed him down and helped him relax. Thanks to their wi-fi, it eventually became his working place.
Today.. He didn’t work on any paperwork or check anything on his old laptop that seemed to wheeze like an old man instead of simply whirring. The boss had been in a terrible mood. And when he was in a terrible mood… He tended to find ways to get people into trouble. Long story short, Wheatley was fired without hesitation and he was sent home early.
Being a well-known customer to the workers in the shop, he was given a cookie and the usual tea he ordered for free as an apology for being fired. This had been the reason he had moved to America… To find a job.. To travel! And he blew it.
Wheatley closed his laptop and groaned into his hand quietly before looking around. The store was almost barren.. Out of curiosity, the man looked down at his sort of watch that counted down to zero when he met ‘the one’. Yeah. Sounded ridiculous, right? It did to him too. What made him a bit nervous was.. It had only a minute and three.. two… one.. A minute left. It always made him anxious, because he always wondered.. What if it was a bomb? What if it was actually counting down to his death?
There was the ringing of a bell at the door as someone entered, but he didn’t bother looking up. He wasn’t in the mood to smile and say hello to everyone he met. His table nearly toppled over as someone stumbled an ran into it. “Oi! Was that necessary, mate?” Wheatley looked up to see a man with curly hair and… His watch beeped. So did the attractive stranger’s..
00:00:00 The two watches read.
