He had died in the mud and blood in Shiganshina, in a place she would never be able to forget, and all that remained of him in her memory, slowly tainting how she remembered him, was a severed hand. As names continued to be read, the rhythmic utterings were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. At first, it was faint and easy to miss beneath the murmur of the crowd and the priest’s prayers, but then more joined it. A faint disturbance moved through the gathered mourners as people turned toward the road leading in from the gate. The Survey Corps arrived.

{Context: Squalo learnt English from a Londoner. Have you ever heard of Cockney rhyming slang? It uses terms such as "Liza Minelli", rhyming with and referring to a 'telly' or TV. The rhyming part is omitted. Hence, Liza replaces 'telly' and Scooby (short for Scooby-Doo, naturally) fittingly means "clue". In other words, he's saying "I've been trying to set up the TV but as for if that's actually working I have no fucking idea."

And yes, I do write out the Cockney accent.
