So, thoughts on LoF while watching and after finishing the series

I thought I would casually watch “Legend of Fei” to spend some time, expecting a cool action-adventure Priest novel adaptation with tropy romance and maybe one queer-coded side character/plotline along the way (it’s a Priest novel after all right?[uff...that didn't age well...yes..but also no...but yes...but nooo.])

BUT INSTEAD 

I am getting an action-adventure with two protagonists that have THE MOST chaotic BI-ENERGY since Wei Wuxian,

A soft Xie Yun and who only manages to be cool for 5 seconds max. while Fei is being a beautiful and butchy sword-wielding legend who is not having any Bullshit ON MAIN, her mom being a fierce af clan leader who WILL fucc you up, Xie Yun being raised by his 4 monk dads on a secluded island, Xie Yun cross-dressing and cosplaying because he can, Fei being fully mesmerised by, gay for, Ni Chang Fu Ren’s high-femmeness even thou when forced herself to wear femme clothing one time just HIDES and hates it, so many uncommented pinning moments between Chu Chu and Fei, Chu Chu in mens’s clothing looking stunning, Xie Yun being an hair flicking extra disaster 24/7, Xie Yun and Fei’s dynamic being hilarious and wholesome af, the Queer Alliances that I didn’t know I needed in my life between Fei and Mu XiaoQiao (aka my genders aligning), generally Mu XiaoQiao being the most obviously queer and fabulous bish ever and the series having SEVERAL hetero pairings because apparently the QUEERs are literally TOO STRONG! 

So I find myself fully dead from the serotonin overdose I get from this series. They didn’t have to go so hard, but they fully did and I LIVE!

EDIT after finishing LoF:

Well...seems like the webseries adaptation fully abandoned the novel and the POTENTIAL that I was so excited about. From around ep 30, I felt a gradual decline in the character writing, the lack of follow up on major and minor story archs, the emotional realism, and the actual essence of the story. Characters feeling fully OOC. Suddenly everything became TROPY as fuck and I lost all joy watching the series......so in conclusion, Priest adaptations seem to be cursed.....

(Edit 2021 - in conclusion only our beloved precious Shan He Ling is the only Priest adaptation that went well - but is cursed in otherways UwU)
