Chapter 22: Internship
Pairing: Theodore Nott x Luna Lovegood
Rating: NC-17
The Ancient Runes classroom greeted him with warm, golden light. The door stood slightly ajar. Like a trap.
He knocked—purely out of courtesy—and stepped inside.
Gwendolyn Fenner sat perched on the desk.
She looked like she belonged in a textbook titled The Art of Seductive Arithmancy: barefoot, in a short black dress, one leg elegantly crossed over the other. In one hand—a worn, well-traveled book. In the other—a quill, slowly tracing runes across the parchment. As though they obeyed her mood rather than her hand.
Candlelight fell from one side only.
She looked half goddess, half storm. And she knew it.
She didn’t even lift her head—just glanced at him through her lashes, from below upward. Like a cat that had already decided he belonged to her, but was still enjoying the game.
Theo involuntarily flinched.
“Right. Of course. This is exactly why I came—to stop thinking about sex. Thank you, Hogwarts.”
Something tightened inside him.
Still, this was technically work. This was her office. McGonagall could walk in at any moment.
“Cozy,” Theo said coolly. Dry. Sarcasm as his first line of defence. “All that’s missing is a glass of firewhisky and a manticore rug, and you could host a reception.”
She didn’t look up. Just kept writing, as if he wasn’t there.
“Do you dislike the atmosphere, Mr. Nott?” she asked in a low, lazy voice—laced with just enough suggestion to make things… complicated.
Theo mentally pressed his wand to his forehead.
Hogwarts’ entire disciplinary system seemed to collapse when a professor greeted you barefoot, with hair falling perfectly across her collarbone, and the expression of a lioness about to pounce.
“Let’s hope runes are the only thing she plans to expose today.”
