APOTHECARY DIARIES LN 13.
A little bit shorter than the others I think and it’s kind of filler-y. A lot of the book is Maomao going around and catching up with people from the central region, like Yao, En’en, Pairin, Joka, and Meimei. Anywho other various thoughts I had below.

The dude getting murdered for being a player was great 10/10 free those girls.
Not Lahan getting (younger) girls left and right but being into milfs
Honestly did not see Meimei’s getting bought out coming, honestly was just as gagged as Maomao
Also AH-DUO CONFIRMING THE SWITCHING BABIES THEORY HELL YEAH
Honestly I’m really glad that was in the book. It does seem like Jinshi is still under the impression he’s the emperor’s brother, but if he does get his way and becomes, a subject and leave the imperial family, that that’ll become a nonissue, if it does get out.
Based on the very ending it seems as though he’ll double down on his bid to ‘be granted a name,’ and he has reaffirmed that he won’t get in the way of Gyokuyou’s son ascending the throne when the emperor dies.
Also I love the fact that he’s being more aware of Maomao’s disposition, AND how the two of them, *cough* gettin it on, could have a much larger effect on politics and people’s perceptions of the goings on in the family.
I enjoy to no end the idea of him remembering that Maomao’s father is THE Kan Lakan and if something were to happen, he would never hear or see the end of it. Like the dynamic of overprotective dad and the bf is great
Idk I just like that this book isn’t straightforward like easy-peasy ‘let’s just do this.’ There’s so many aspects that go into the characters decisions, even the ones that seem like they should be super simple. Or in our time and place would be so easy.
Anyways reading the end was the hardest part for me because I was stopping every other paragraph to text my friend about it. Took me way longer than it should’ve but I was also squealing and kicking my feet because I love jinmao sm I love the way that their relationship has developed now that Maomao is actually considering it and not just brushing it off or pretending Jinshi’s feelings for her don’t exist. It does feel like there have been a lot of steps being taken very quickly between the end of the last book through the end of this one, but when you consider just how differently they felt about one another at the beginning of the story vs now it seems a lot less extreme imo. Like Maomao referred to him as ‘someone with nothing better to do’ and one of the first things he said about her was essentially “maybe I’ll use her a bit.” Like as a pawn. I think it’s really that they’re expressing themselves more instead of being subtle about it.
Just babbling I mean the book hasn’t even been released but 4 hours where I’m reading it from so maybe this was super incoherent idk I’m tired but I will eat up an Apothecary Diaries book in no time flat every time
Maybe I’ll make a better version of this later (except I’m 80% sure I also said that last time lmao)
