We’ll be needing all the fluff we can get lol, enjoy~
It was only after two months that Hae Soo realized that her body was acting strange. She decided to go to the doctor to get a formal check-up.
Her doctor had the surname of Oh. She seemed nice enough, but a bit stern for her liking. They then did the basic tests. Then Dr. Oh asked her about her symptoms. When Hae Soo told her, the doctor just nodded. Although her face told Soo that she knew exactly what was going on.
“I suspect that you are pregnant.”
“What?”
“Is this your first pregnancy?” Soo nodded.
“It’s common for first time mothers to not notice these things. Let me get you a pregnancy test and we’ll even check how far long you are. We might even know the gender.” Dr. Oh smiled—she had a wonderful smile.
When Soo got him she felt like she was walking on air. Yes, she did have sever nausea at that moment, but she was ecstatic nonetheless. She honestly couldn’t wait to tell So when he got home. They had been trying to get pregnant on and off over the years. She even had a miscarriage once. It was a hard time for them both, but they worked through it in the end. So really wanted a child, she saw it in the way he looked at families with children. She even caught herself wanting to be a mother too.
This time around, she knew that she was ready. She was going to give So the biggest surprise. And she knew exactly how she was going to do it.
When So got home, Soo immediately grabbed him by the hand and took him to the kitchen.
“Soo-ah, what’s going on? I haven’t even taken off my shoes yet!” Soo didn’t care, the secrecy was bubbling inside her, asking to be let free.
“We’re going to eat cake.”
“Wait what? For dinner?”
“Yes. Come on!” she let go of his hand and grabbed a desert knife from the drawers. She handed it to him, “slice the cake oppa.”
“Wait, what? Is it your birthday?” he scrunched his face, “No, your birthday isn’t for another three months.”
Soo laughed, “It’s not, but just cut the cake.”
“Okay, you’re scaring me,” he eyed the cake suspiciously. He placed the knife gently into the cake to reveal the insides. He looked up at her expectantly.
“What am I supposed to be doing now?”
“I’m pregnant!” she cried out at the top of her lungs.
“What do you mean—” he looked at the cake again. A dawn of realization illuminated his face as he saw that the insides of the sweet desert was dyed pink.
“It’s a girl?” he said softly.
She nodded, tears in her eyes.
“Oh my gosh—you’re pregnant! With a girl?” he pulled her into a such a warm hug that it felt as if the world had stopped then, and nothing mattered expect the blanket pf happiness that had enveloped them in that moment.
She pulled away to look at his face again. His face was mirrored with hers; the hope, the joy, the fear of being parents, all of it.
She reached up to touch his face and brushed away his tears. They both looked at each other, wordless—still lost in each other’s thoughts. They both knew that words would’ve never been enough to fully encapsulate the love they felt for each her in that moment. As Soo looked at So, she couldn’t have been more grateful to have her best friend, her lover, her soulmate, by her side to welcome the new life she was carrying.
