“Did you end up finding your way alright?”

Masoto sat quietly, staring at his zanpakuto as Nanami checked on him. He had passed out again from another panic attack. It happened every time he tried going into his inner world, the moment he opened his eyes to be surrounded by water, his reflexes kicked in and he began to feel like he was suffocating. Shachi's voice echoed inside his head as she cried out. It was the only time she truly ever spoke out, when she felt like she was going to lose him.
He sighed softly, sooner or later he was going to have to stop being such a coward. He couldn't call himself a shinigami if he couldn't even go into his inner world. He was sure Nanami was tired of seeing him.
"Masoto-san, we will be having a visitor today who gives out charms. I hope you don't mind her coming by, she's a good friend of mine."
He couldn't really possibly say no. Not after someone put effort into making the charms. He could endure it for a few moments. He gave her a bright smile despite how he was really feeling.
"Not at all. I look forward to meeting her today. A friend of Nanami-chan's is a friend of mine."

He didn’t know how long she’d continue debating with herself — “should I? I should! But wait…” Honestly, it wasn’t as if he’d asked her to marry him. It was just a simple date; dinner and possibly a human movie, if he could manage to sneak them out.
But there she was. Babbling on and on about the ‘what ifs’ ‘ands’ and ‘buts’ about the entire excursion. He allowed the incessant chatter, though. Deeming it cute, if not incredibly paranoid. However he had to draw the line when she began going on about the dangers of theatre popcorn.
Stepping forward, Hideki was quick to cup the back of her neck and bring her lips to hers. He held her there for sometime, against him, hoping she’d either short-circuit on the spot and would cease her talking or she’d melt into his arms once he pulled away like those girls in his shoujo manga.
However, much to his chagrin, neither happened. If anything at all, his efforts only magnified her nervous behavior and they spent the rest of the evening discussing an alphabet’s worth of backup plans, on the very off chance their date were to fail.

Casually shirtless again. Casually glistens. Casual oh yeaaahhh in the background. “Yo. Can I help you with anything?”
[Leaves him a box of Taiyaki with a note telling him which ones are filled with what. There are chocolate, red bean paste and this new one she thought she'd try with peanutbutter and banana]
"..." Is pleasantly surprised by this display, seeing as not many people actually leave him behind any gifts. And it's food too! Probably one of his favorite things to receive (you know, as long as it isn't some rich guy's left overs, that is).
Stares at it a blankly, noticing that there's a note too that goes as far as to tell him what's what. He'd be an idiot not to eat this but it would be just rude to eat it without even saying anything.
"---thanks."

Sachi had insisted that the two took their lunches together that day, though it was more like an early dinner by the time they got a break. It had been too long since she’d spoken with Aya, and she didn’t want to slip away from one of the only shinigami she was close to being able to call her friend.
The two finished eating and sat in a comfortable silence under the lacy shade of a tree. The heat of the day was fading with the approaching sunset and it was nice to just sit in peace before returning to their respective divisions. Just as Sachi was about to suggest they get a move on back to work, she felt a soft weight against her shoulder.
"Aya-chan?" Her graceful companion had fallen asleep, her hair spilling over onto Sachi’s lap. She trusted me enough to fall asleep? Does this mean we’re…friends?! A smile lit her face and she nudged her new friend, but to no avail. Finally, she managed to pick her up piggyback style.
And it was with that giddy grin on her face that she carried her all the way back to the thirteenth.
Making Friends || Sachi & Aya
Sachi had always been good at finding the silver lining in a bad situation. While her situation could always be worse, it certainly wasn't considerably good. The acting shinigami in charge of hollow extermination in a city just a few miles west of Tokyo had gotten into it with a hollow that was out of their league and ended up badly injured. So much so that he had needed to go back to Seireitei to recuperate. When she'd gotten the orders to temporarily replace him, she had been jubilant. She would finally see the human world! It was a whole new adventure! And if she was good at this, then imagine how proud her fukutaichou would be upon her return!
Her heart sunk considerably when she received word that she wouldn't be going alone. Unseated officers were dispatched alone all the time! Certainly she, a fifteenth seat, could handle whatever it was that was out there. A suspicion crept over that someone involved with the decision-making process had labeled her as unstable. They didn't trust her to perform this task on her own. That had to be it.
No, no, no. There was no need to be thinking like that. She had everything under control. She'd be fine. A little backup was probably normal considering the beating the previous officer had received. It was nothing personal. In fact, she'd even strive to make the best of this. She would make a friend out of whoever ended up being her partner. She just knew it.
So when she found herself standing in the human world with the eighteenth seat of the Thirteenth Division, she couldn't keep from beaming. She approached her on the rooftop they'd previously agreed to meet on, two awkward and heavy objects slung over her shoulders. "Aya-chan~! Look what I got for us!"
"I ran into a man on the street who said he had just the thing for us! Apparently he heard we would be coming and he gave me a great deal! They're gigais! I've always wanted one!" She stooped over, letting them slide off her shoulders and onto the floor. They were identical to the two girls except for clothing. "At least he said that it was a good deal. But I liked his hat a lot and he had a trustworthy face! I could just tell."
